I make up my bottles in advance in the morning and chill in fridge then warm in a jug full of hot water when needed.

i was just wondering how long you can keep the feed after it has been warmed? Is 2 hours at room temp right?

Thanks

I think the guidelines say 1 hour, but i leave it up to 2 hours and he is still here!!. Just go with your instincts, I'm being particular in this weather though just sticking to the hour.

I usually leave it no more than 1.5 - 2 hours, no problems with it so far xx

On my tub of Aptamil, it says 2 hours, but I usually keep it for an hour, hour and a half at the most :) Evie very rarely goes back to an unfinished bottle tho as she hates room temp ones

hey,

I think you shouldnt make up feeds in advance because when you make them you make them with warm or hot water then you cool them, then to use them you need to warm them up again. This warming and cooling and warming again creates bacteria.
What i do is fill up the bottles with the amount of water needed (without the formula). So that the water is all measured out and ready. Then i will heat up the water by putting it in a cup, then ill add the formula so it is fresh :)

2 hours, says the Aptamil tub, but usually no longer, I wouldnt like "sat out" milk so guess LO wouldnt either :D

I have been told by midwives that it's 2 hours at room temperature if you're reheating it, or 24 hours in the fridge if it hasn't yet been reheated.

I thought the idea of making the formula with boiling water was to sterilise the formula, since the formula itself isn't sterile. When you add it to boiling water, it's sterilised for your baby to drink. I dont' want to sound off, but you're talking about not warming, cooling and warming again because bacteria will grow, but you're not killing the bacteria in the formula if you're only adding it to warm water

My LO has room temp bottles now but when I was warming them I gave it about 1.5 hours before throwing the unfinished bottle out. TBH I still stick to this now with the room temp bottles as it's a habit! I make 6 up in the morning and stick them in the fridge until about 1/2 before her feed, I make 2 more up in the evening to see us through the night but she is sleeping through now so doesn't need them!
