You need to call them and ask. depending on the Dr, it's anywhere from 6-12 hours. I have an actual time for my c-section, 9:30 am, and my time to stop eating before is midnight.

woo I didn't even know you had to not eat. Makes sense though since its surgery. Good to know. I'm sure my doctor would have told me but just in case he didn't

Have you had your pre op assessment yet hun where you sign your consent etc? I was handed a leaflet with all that kind of info, in at 815 no food after midnight, water only until 7am. Have my pre meds to take at 10pm tonight and again at 7am. Good tip on our info was eventhough you can't eat make sure your partner eats a good breakfast, this is because of everything that's going on it could be some time before they get chance to eat and also because if their blood sugar is low and everything being quite overwhelming, there's a chance they could faint. As my midwife put it "If you do we'll leave you in the corner though as Mum and Baby are our priority! lol Good luck with it hun.

they havent told me to go in for a pre op assessment? just told me to come in day of the section x

Surely fasting only applies if you're having a GA?

Nope, untrue. Most surgical procedures require a fast, especially one that's going to be done around your stomach and intestines. They also don't want you to eat just in case they have to put you under. I'm gotten sick during a c-section once. Was in labor, they were going to send me home, they let me eat, my water broke, found out he was breech, c-section and puke fest.

You need to call your provider. Not everyone has a pre-op. You need to ask them about not eating and the anxiety, which they more than likely give you meds.

I'm sorry hun but asking on a forum is only going to give you 200 different answers and experiences, you'll only get the right answers from your medical provider. We can give you our opinions and all that but there's only one person who has the answers related to you specific case.

just phoned them and have my pre-op assessment on the 17th x
