How long should I expect this to take?

I know no one can ever really know how long exactly it takes to conceive, but at least there are some ball park figures out there according to age groups. I've read that "fertility levels decline significantly" for women over 35, and most women in their 20’s can expect to fall pregnant within 6 months of trying. I'll be 34 in 3 months, so I'm not sure I really fit into the same timeline as the fertile females in their 20’s. Anyone have any guesses for the timeframe someone can expect when TTC at 33 and 3/4ths?
Feeling disappointed after only two months of trying and know I should be a little more patient... Think it would help me to at least have an idea of what to expect.
Thanks!

They say for a healthy couple 6 months to a year. And 20% chance of conceiving every cycle. But all depends on a multitude of factors. I'm in my early 20s and have been trying for about 14 months. Good luck! I hope you catch it soon! I wouldn't wish fertility problems on anyone!

What the PP said - it can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive.

I'm 32 TTC#1 and in month 11. We got a BFP in month 10 but lost it.

At least we now know we CAN get pregnant. You only have a 20% chance each cycle, even with perfect timing.

Thank you so much for your responses, ladies. That really does help me to get a better perspective on this so I can relax a little bit. Here's hoping we all catch that sticky bean soon! :dust:

We conceived DD when I was 34 and it took 9 months/ 10 cycles. Isn't it crazy how people get pregnant in a snap WHEN THEY ARE NOT EVEN TRYING. It kills me.

I am 23 and DF is 30, we got a bfp within 3 months then lost it, then 15 months later we got our bfp yesterday :) Funny thing though, the month before we decided to go back to ntnp, and bam, pregnant.

Ya my friend has a 2y/o and she wasn't even trying. In fact her lifestyle isn't healthy. She's almost 30, overweight, smoker and the dad is over weight and smoker. They weren't even trying either. My sis on the other hand is healthy non smoker(dad is also healthy) and had a baby 12 weeks ago and they weren't trying either. So it goes to show you can still get preg trying or not and healthy or not. :)

Ive been off of bc for almost three years now, on my 7th cycle ttc (bfn every cycle), 30 years old trying for #1

I just started trying, hope it doesn't take that long for me! I'll be 29 in a couple months and we are hoping to have 3-4 kids and just trying for number one now.

I know some who tried for years, and some who got pregnant without trying at all. Guess you never can tell until you try!

i have been very lucky
1st 1st cycle
2nd 1st cycle
3rd 1st cycle
4th 6th cycle
5th 2nd cycle
6th 3rd cycle straight after a mc
7th currently going onto cycle 2 but im still breastfeeding x

but i have never been on the pill or anything only after my 6th for a month but didnt like it dont know it that has anything to do with it and i use opks and take preg vits :)

Does bcp affect how long it can take? I was on it for nearly 10 years and often tooling back to back without getting my af...

From my (endless LOL) research it shouldn't have any effect. The hormones from bcp are out of your system in a matter of days. I think they say the most reliable factor is to consider how your cycles were before taking the pill.
