Hi all,

I suffered my m/c Monday of last week and decided to go natural option, it completed over weekend. I have had 1 week off work and I'm considering taking this week too... but how long is it okay to be away from work following a m/c?

Given this is my 2nd and it seems harder than the 1st m/c, is two weeks too long? Work have been great so far so no pressure there xxx

its up to you as long as works ok? I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks on the 23rd Aug, this was also my second miscarriage - i took 5 days off work but i wanted to go back to work to get back into reality, but everyones different theres no right or wrong length of time xx

I had 3 weeks off after my 2nd D&C. Its different for everyone, take as much time as you need hun x

I took 9 weeks off after my D&C, not for the physcial recovery, but emotionally, i couldnt cope. Take as much time as you need x

Thank guys. I spoke with my boss today so I'm going back on Thursday. I've had a week and half and i feel that is time enough and getting back to a routine might be for the best. So I'll have a couple of days at work, then the weekend before my first full week back.

Sorry to hear of your losses. It is so difficult xxx

Dont rush back to work take all the time you need, I had 7 weeks off after my 4th M/C and Ive only returned to work part-time as I cannot cope doing fulltime anymore.xxx

So sorry for your loss.xxx

I should just stop worrying about work but unfortunately it plays on my mind. I felt guilty having more time off after 1 full week last week and particularly because I had a natural m/c and it has completed with no complications, i feel i should get back to a routine.

My boss said to let her know if I wasnt ready to come back come Thursday but bcos I teach, I feel bad that other colleagues are picking up extra classes whilst trying to prepare for their own.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It is such a difficult situation to be in and after a 2nd m/c, I feel a bit lost. I cant imagine how you feel after 4. It must be so hard. TTC again is just not an option for me as I am pertified of this happening again. Thankfully EPU are running a few tests when I go back in a couple of weeks for scan to check all has passed. Maybe I'll get some answers xxx

Aww I'm glad the EPU are going to run tests, hopefully everything will be fine and you can get back to TTC when you feel ready of course.x

Yeh I felt like that with work at first but now I dont care, I need to look after number 1 and work was just making me feel worse.xxxx

You have had an awful lot to deal with so i can understand why you feel that way about work. If I could go part time i would but unforunately my DH is taking time out of work to deal with PTSD caused by years of serving on the front line in Iraq etc. He's having a hard time dealing with our loses too so I feel one of us has to work or at least have a job to go back too.

Life is so hard at times. I try to look for the positives but my family have had a run of bad luck the last few years with the deaths of family members, the hardest of all my mum who was only 47 and passed away very suddenly.

Its funny how I think of her more when I'm going through a hard time like I am at the moment.

Sorry I've just rammbled on... didnt even realise I had to vent!!! I hope you feel better soon and ready to try again. Thanks for your replies xxx :hugs:

First m/c was a missed one - I had 2 weeks off from finding out and then went back, but ended up having another 10 days off as I needed ERPC.

2nd m/c was natural and fairly quick as was only 6 1/2 weeks at time (GP suspected it didn't go much past 4 weeks) but I had a week off then.

First time round I probably should have stayed off a bit longer, but wanted something to keep me occupied. Think it depends a lot on how you feel both physically and emotionally and what relationship you have with the people you see every day at work.
