I am so desperate to start TTC again after my mmc, the hospital didn't give me any advice after my ERPC last friday.

Anybody know??

Hi Baby-cakes

Firstly I am sorry for your loss

Although I didnt have a ERPC, I think the rule of thumb is basically when you feel up to it. Im sure someone else might be able to offer more advice

I don't know medically what is recommended. I think it is one full cycle. But I had my miscarriage in October and was pregnant in January.

I think the advice is to wait until all bleeding/brown discharge has stopped.

After that the NHS tend to tell you to wait a full cycle (i.e. after another AF) before resuming TTC. This is probably because it is easier to work out dates if you know the date of your last missed period. However, the miscarriage association advises that you do not need to wait should you wish to TTC immediately.

You should only start TTC again should you feel physically and mentally ready. I had an EPRC on Wednesday last week- and like you I am desperate to start again...!!

Thank you.

I think the only thing that is keeping me from breaking down is focusing on TTC, I'm still bleeding a little from the ERPC and can't wait for it to stop, I do feel bad aswell for the baby I lost.

If you can wait for the next cycle then this will be helpful and may reassure you more in the forthcoming weeks that you had a cycle in between TTC again. However if you want to try again after you stopped bleeding they say you should ovulate 2/3 weeks after the MC.

Big hug and good luck xx

They say to wait at least 1 cycle but i had a miscarriage last wednesday, stopped bleeding on friday and have already started trying again, so really think it depends on how you feel and also how far on in the pregnancy you were at the time you miscarried, i know how you are feeling and its frustrating because all you think about is trying for another baby to replace the one just lost:hug: xxx

The reason you should wait ttc/sex until the bleeding stops is to avoid you getting an infection. There are no medical reasons why you should wait if you had a straightforward ercp etc- As long as you feel up to it, by all means. Your body will only get pregnant again if its ready anyway!

Sorry for your loss, hun :hugs:

I was just in the hospital on Sunday and asked the same question. She said whenever I am ready, they say wait until your next AF but that is only because they will have a hard time dating you...at least that's what the nurse told me:) Good luck to you!!! Gosh I can't even think past the next 5 mins yet:( Hope you get your BFP soon

I was told lots of different timeframes by different people at the hospital. When I had my scan and found out I'd had a MMC, the sonographer said that they usually recommend waiting for your first normal period. The doctor I saw there said to wait about 3 months and the anaesthetist told me 3-4 months (don't know why I asked her as she isn't really a fertility specialist). It didn't matter what they said though as I knew we'd start trying again straight away as I didn't think I'd fall pregnant on the first month anyway. I've had 2 normal periods now and am now in my 2ww to find out if I've been successful this month.

They did give me a leaflet from the Miscarriage Association which said there should be no increased risk of miscarrying again if you get pregnant without even having a period first (unless there is some medical reason for miscarrying), although they did recommend waiting for your first period. But I think they say this because if you did get pregnant without first having a period, then they would have to scan you to find out how far gone you are which they obviously don't like doing. I didn't care though, I pay my taxes so I thought if it happened, it happened.

Sorry about your loss and I hope your next pregnancy is a happy and successful one xxx

Hi
I had a d&c last Wednesday and stopped bleeding on Friday. We started TTC again on Saturday as we both felt it was the best thing for us.
If it feels right for you then go for it. Just wait as long as you and your OH need.
Best of luck xx

i was told to wait for at least one period, but 2 or 3 would be better give your body a chance to get back to normal. hope this helps.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I had an early natural MC last month and was told to wait until after my 1st AF by the nurse who saw me (although she told me at the same time that the consultants recommend 2-3 cycles) However the miscarriage association leaflet she gave me said there should be no increased risk of MC if you were to fall pregnant right away.

Ultimately i think it's a personal decision and whatever you feel most comfortable with. We decided to WTT until after AF and went back to using protection for a week after the bleeding had stopped but it just didn't feel right so we abandoned that plan and here we are, 5 weeks pregnant having conceived right away.

Good luck whatever you decide
