Just wondering what everyone's experience was like giving birth the third time compared to the first and second time. I know everyone's experience will be different but seeing how I'm expecting my third I'm interested in hearing about it. My second labor was much much different than my first. Both started w my water breaking. DS1 was face up (OUCH!) and contractions started immediately and constantly (joys f back labor). But active labor lasted a real long time. Transition was 9 hrs and pushed for 6 hrs. Didn't give birth until 30.5 hrs after my water broke. W DS2 my water also role first. Had no contractions until 17 hrs later but they didn't do anything. Then he was born 31 hrs after my water broke but I had no back labor and I went from 4CM to placenta in one hour and 15 minutes. So it took a long time to start but once it did it was wicked fast. I'm really curious how this one will go. Both of my births were intervention free water births. DS was born at 41+5 and DS2 was born at 38+3. I hear the third is a wild card but I'm hoping its another fast birth!

I was induced with my third. I had a very small leak but labout wasn't starting so induction. I was two days before my due date.

First time I was induced.

This is how my 2nd went aswell. Your labours were very similar to mine tbh. First took 43 hours from first contractions to birth, pushed for 30 minutes. I laboured in the water but went into transition and was basically falling asleep so they pulled me out so I could rest on the bed and gave birth on dry land. With my second I was in slow labour for 3 days with really low level contractions. hind-waters went at 7pm on the Saturday, had a sweep at 11.30pm on the Saturday and was sent home. On the way home it really kicked in, hubby basically turned around in the drive to take me back to the hospital and Eddy was born at 4.24am! Both have been on just G&A.

I seriously have no idea how this one could go. I really want my waterbirth though (have wanted one both times, came close with Earl, didn't even see water with Eddy as it was so quick! lol). Thinking it will be one of 2 things. Either another week of slow labour followed by C-sec due to size of baby (Eddy was 10.14lb) or I'll end up giving birth in my bath at home in under an hour! lol :haha:

Ds1 was 6 hours(induced)
Dd was 3 hours 20ish from first contraction.
Ds2 was 1hour 50 from first contraction.

I'm interested in this too. I'm 36+2 with my third. My two previous labours were fairly straightforward (thank god!) and fairly similar.

No.1: 11 days over, woke up in labour, delivered naturally after a start to finish labour of 7 1/2 hours.
No.2: woke up in labour on my due date, delivered naturally after start to finish labour of 4 1/2 hours.

My mw said that number 3 will likely be a similar timed labour we my second, so they reckon it'll be another 4 hours. We shall see!

First was 27 hours established labour, second ninety minutes from first contraction to holding her, third was forty-five minutes from first contraction to holding her.

1st : 38 hours
2nd : about 30 hours I think
3rd : 5 hours and he was pushed out in under two minutes! Am hoping for the same again this time around.
Good luck!

All 3 of my labors have been long, but all for different reasons. With ds1 I wasn't able to walk around, I was confined to the bed so that made labor long. With ds2 he was positioned funny in the womb and couldn't protrude into my canal until I moved him, but I didn't move him until 20+ hours into labor. With dd she had her hand by her face and so I had to dialate a little extra to birth her. She was my shortest (and 3rd) labor, but only by a few hours. She was still about 20 hours long.

First- 12 hours from first contraction at home to on my chest
Second- just under 8hours " " but also 3 pounds heavier
Third- 3 hours " " and almost the same weight as #2

But all my kids were 18 months apart and now my #4 will be here 2 months after the youngest turns 7 so I may be back to square 1 all over again but I hope not!
