Finlay sometimes has not much sleep at night, if hes had trouble re-settling. Last night he slept 7pm-3.30am and then didn't resettle until around 6, and then we start the day at 7am.. he has naps in the day but i'm worried he's not getting enough sleep, a lot of nights he wont settle until around 10 and maybe even 11 and then he can have a rough time settling (he gets quite bad trapped wind down below and it causes him pain, poor sausage)

Anyway this is just me being curious as to how much sleep your newborn was getting or is getting? Aren't they supposed to have around 12 hours at night? Because he's never had that!

At that age Lyla was going down anywhere between 7 - 11, waking at midnight for a feed, going back to sleep until maybe 4 for a feed then waking again around 8. Newborns will always wake in the night as they haven't worked out the difference between day and night and also there bodies need the food. Most newborns will want to feed every 3-4 hours even at night xx

agree with above.
Max at that age was waking for a bottle every 4 hours regardless. and then either slept or was awake between. He slept for a total of about 13 hours a day.

It is normal for newborns to be waking throughout the night as he'll need to feed often. What he doesn't get during the night, he'll make up for in naps during the day. Don't worry too much about his sleep right now, he's so young, he'll sleep when he needs to sleep.

At that age, both mine were waking between 2 and 4 hours for a feed.

I have a three month old. He goes down at 10-11ish that's his last feed until anywhere between 5-7am then he has a feed and has another hour sleep. He's only just started doing this though, at a month old he was waking at about 2am as well for a feed.

Michael at 1 month used to go to bed at 10.30pm-11.00pm and sleep until 4.30-5.30am and would get a bottle and sleep until about 9.00am-10.00am. During the day he would sleep for another 2-3hours (Totalling day and night around Max: 15-17hours but he was dead lazy:haha: )

All babies very and they will sleep as much as they need:hugs: I don't think it matters if it's day or night as long as they get sleep x

Aliyah does 8.30-8ish atm.
At that age though she was no way getting her 12 hours sleep, through the night.
Maybe around 5-6! She was up like every hour at least.

thanks girls! thats made me feel loads better because i felt like a bad mummy because i didnt want him to be over tired, poor little sausage:baby:

at that age lo was feeding every two hours round the clock so he was up every two hours. He now sleeps 8:30 - 8:30 :flower:

Hi.

When my little one was at that age he would sleep most of day waking every 3 hours for a feed than go back to sleep but as foer the nights he was very hard to settle and would be up for hours on end crying and screaming with really bad wind problems.

Now at nearly 5 months he has a few naps during the day 2 or 3 if lucky and goes to bed at around 9.30/10pm and sleps anywhere to 8/9 am, he may occasionaly wake befor that but no earlier than 6.30am.
