Just wondering... I had an ultrasound with my last bubby and it showed a good strong heartbeat. I later mced. I know once you've seen the heartbeat the chance of mcing is supposed to drop to 5%.
I have an ultrasound in 7 days and am worrying that I'll see a hb, but still lose the baby.
Anyone else have this?

I know it's statistics and not a personal story, but I found this in an old thread:

This is what the miscarriage association says: "Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%. A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks to 99.4%."

I hope you have a good scan and stay healthy :)

I'm sorry about your loss. My first pregnancy (planned) I saw a good hb at 6w4d, but m/c at 7ish weeks. The second pregnancy (planned) I saw a good hb at 7w5d, but ended up having a missed m/c @ 10 weeks. THIS brand new pregnancy is going amazing. I saw the hb at 7w4d and it was 150 bpm, the u/s tech said that was perfect. And just last Thursday for the first time ever I heard the heartbeat at 11w2d, and I cried like a baby lol.

This happened to me as well.

Usually the statistics show that your chance of a m/c decreases drastically after you HEAR the heartbeat with the doppler.

Best of luck. I hope all goes well xx :flow:

I saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks with my first pregnancy and all looked good. Had a scan at 11 weeks, no heartbeat and no movement.

I saw the heartbeat at 5w4d this time (had a scan after a bleed) and have another scan in a week at 7w4d. Praying that the heartbeat is still there.

I feel that the "decreased chance of m/c after hb seen" thing is a myth. A heck of a lot of pregnancies end well after the 6 week mark which is usually when the heartbeat can be seen. Just my opinion from experiences of myself and friends.

Yeah it is pretty scary. I'm having my first ultrasound in 3 hours, and seeing the heartbeat isn't actually going to make me feel safer, I don't think :/

I seen heartbeat at 6w4days and had a missed miscarriage at 11w

Second time seen heartbeat at 7w4 days and had a missed miscarriage at 9w

I am now pregnant with twins and have seen heartbeat at 6w 7w3. 7w6 and have another scan on Friday making me 9w3 so everything going well this time around xxx

I lost my baby at 17 weeks after hearing his heartbeat two different times. However the first time, there was a blip on it, like it stopped for a second and then started again. Of course the doctor said that it was nothing to worry about unless it happened later on in the pregnancy. I guess she was wrong because my baby died. I am scared all the time the same thing will happen with this one, even though the heartbeat is strong (no blips). I don't think it is possible just to stop worrying. But I do believe that the odds really are in our favor and there is a way better chance it will turn out right the next time after a loss because it is rare to lose the baby after seeing healthy heartbeat.
