How many of us wouldn´t be here it if weren´t for over 35 and older pregnancies?

The oldest patient I've had (I'm an ob nurse) is 47. (-btw, she's looked about 25 too! I kept reading her age and looking at her face, I thought something was misprinted, lol.)

I've had 2, 46 year old patients. 1 was own eggs, one was donor eggs. The donor egg patient had been ttc for 20 years. She had her first baby from donor eggs at 44, then had full term twins from donor eggs at 46!!

I had another patient that was ttc for MANY years. She had her first baby via AR at the age of 42. Then, she had a completely unassisted, uncomplicated pregnancy at 45.

While talking to an ob one day, he said his oldest patient was in her mid 50s!! Natural conception!!!!

Wasn't there a 60+ year old woman who carried her grandbaby for her daughter?

Yes, She did!
and another lady had a child by egg donnor at a late age as well, cant remember how old

Did anyone see the show "World's Oldest Mums" (I think it was called that) anyway there was a lady in India that was 69 or 70 when she had a baby with donor eggs of course and a UK lady was in her 60's trying to find a clinic to help her but she was refused and was trying to get a clinic overseas to help. I think she was late 60's. I can't imagine being in my late 60's wanting to be pregnant!!

Yes! And the clinic in India specialises in helping out all these older ladies and people are travelling to them from far and wide as they see the clinic as being able to give a child to the childless. I thought it all seemed very sad. But it made me feel much better about myself trying in my late 30s!

My Mum had me at 37. When I was a kid I always thought that was really old, because most people's Mums were much younger than mine, but obviously it's much more normal now. My cousin recently had two in her 40s, 2nd at about 46 I think.

My Gran's neighbour had her first baby at 37 or 38 and she went on to have 7 children!!!!!! This would have been 40+ years ago and as far as I know she had no medical intervention. Once she got started she couldnt stop..... LOL.

My mum had me at 38 but I am the youngest of 4. She tried for almost 5 years to have her first. Again once she got going she hadn't much problems. In fact second baby was born 10 and half months after first....lol

Oh Nolly I so want a baby hedgehog every time I see your pic. Is that your hand? where did you find it? Gorgeous!

Hi Nats,

No not my baby HH or my hand, just a piccy I found on the net.

It does make me smile everytime I see his cute little face. Might go baby HH hunting tonight.... lol. Only kidding I wouldn't do that!

Yeah, yeah, that is the one I meant, Actually she did manage to conceive abroad and had the baby in the UK, she was in the press, there was lots of controversy about it!!

My mum was 44 when she conceived me and 45 by the time she gave birth. I have 2 brothers that are 9 and 10 years older so my mum must have been 34 to 35 years of age when she conceived or gave birth to them. She also had two girls in her twenties. She popped out a few sprogs over the years lol. She conceived them all naturally so she must have been reasonably fertile even in her older years.

I have only had one child thus far, and I was in my early 20s then. I was not trying to conceive it was accidental lol. Since then most of my partners have either had the snip or I have been on birth control. I am relying on my mothers example to give me hope that even at 36 I still have a possibility of dropping out 2 more little tidgets (which is what I used to call my son when I was carrying him. Although why I called him little I'll never know cause he was over 9lbs when he was born. It was like giving birth to a baby elephant and he got stuck on the way out. He was ok though...thanks to forceps. Tidget stood for tiny fidget cause he never stayed still and was rather good at aiming for spots that would wind me). We will see if I inherited my mothers fertility.

What I forgot to add before is that I was an accident too - so I was hoping that I'd inherited her super-fertility especially as I'm now the same age (but looking unlikely)!
