How many of you guys give your LO's their milk either cold or room temp?

My LO is only 4 days old and i am feeding sort of on demand at the moment although there is a pattern of 2 and half to 3 hour inbetween feeds so its not that bad....

He had cold/room temp milk in the hospital when he was born but since fetching him home i have warmed up his milk....

I was wondering if i will harm my LO if i start giving him his milk at room temp?

I know alot of people who have said they never warm up the milk but i dont want to make him ill or anything.

The reason im wanting to try this is bcos it will make it alot easyer for night feeds and he wont have to wait as long for his bottle to warm up( which he does not like doing)

So is this safe?
thanks in advance guys x

Room temp is fine ... dont give it straight out of the fridge though as it will upset his tummy

Thanks,i thought that cold milk outta the fridge wouldnt be such a good idea.

I make up about 4 bottles at a time( as this is what my mum did with all 3 of hers )

Is it best to store them at room temp?
or in the fridge and take 1 out a while before he needs it so it gets to room temp?

I have been storing them at room temp already but would like advice please =)

I really hope im not doing this wrong x

hey hun, im giving Kara her milk at room temp, or just a bit warmer by standing it in a bowl of warm water )just for a few mins to take the shill off) but i was told by my midwife and my health visitor i MUST not make up her bottles before hand, i dont know why, but they made it out to be like the worst thing in the world lol! So ive been boiling the kettle , letting it cool then pouring it into her sterilized bottles and taking them up to bed, along with the formula powder, and just adding the powder when she's ready for her feed.

she's also 'demand' feeding but her feeds vary from 2 and a half hours to 4 hours, just what ever suits her really! hope u mange to get ur head round it hun, its so confusing, you never know if your right or wrong! good luck xxxx

As long as you don't leave the made up milk standing for more than an hour cos of bacteria..... You can either store them in the fridge until you need to warm them up or I do like Ashnbump....sterilise the bottles..put the water n then add the formula when I need it...waiting for a kettle to boil at 2am takes ages!!!

Room temp is fine :)
I too have always made them like ashnbump.
Much easier for during the night, with a hungry baby that will just not wait.

We do room temp, except for right before bed when I warm the last bottle. I think warm is a bit more soothing

we have always given alys' at room temp although if shes being impatient and not waiting for them to cool fully then she will have one or two warm lol
we make up about 3 normally and store them in the fridge and heat a little when needed, i think aslong as you add the powder to water that is 70 degrees then its fine because it kills the bacteria in the powder and then let them cool, although i didnt know this till 4weeks after having aly and felt awful but shes fine, they say different things all the time, its hard to get it right lol

xxx

We use ready made cartons - if it's new carton, she gets in at room temp, if an open carton, I heat it slightly to take the chill off. I always heat her bottle for her dream feed though.

Thanks for the advice guys,
decided to put the water in the bottles ready and add the powder as and when needed...sounds like the easyest and safest way me thinks =)

Also guna try my little piglett on 1 hungry baby bottle on a night x

When he was younger, i gave it to him warm or room temp.. now he's older, he likes it cold :)

we give our lo room temp and he is ok sometimes there warm but most of the time its room temp

i warm rhys'sup but only cos i think it's nice and snuggly and relaxing to have a warm drink i always try and get it body temp if that makes sense as thats what breast milk is so i give it slightly warm.
but room temp is fine if he's drinking it hun

i warm all of Ernie's feeds!! I make 3 bottles up at a time and put them in the fridge (can only make up as many as he has in 12hours as he has colief in them) i use the kettle and a jug downstairs and upstairs i have a lindam bottle warmer which is fab and actually quicker than the kettle!!

I give Ffion her bottle at room temperature. I put water in 2-3 bottles then add the powder as needed.
