Mine is down to 4 bottles per day. 'They' say a 4 month old should have approx 5 bottles of 7oz so 35oz in 24 hrs. My LO often doesn't have this much...

Riley is on 5 bottles at 6oz, sometimes he cries for more so i now give him 7oz bottles, he doesnt always drink it all & anything he leaves i tip down sink! The amts given on the formula boxes are guides really & i personally think it all depends on how much they weigh & if they're good feeders or not - boys definately are lol! X

My Lo has nowhere near that amount. usually anything between 20-26oz a day. he has reflux though and sometimes doesnt feed well.

My lo takes 5 x 7oz bottles - had no idea that was the recommended amount. Thought it was quite a lot as he's 91st centile.

Dd never took anything like the guidelines on the boxes suggested. I always found the 2 to 2.5 oz per pound of weight to be a better guideline. Dd only really ever stuck around the 2 marker, but at that point it was quite a lot lower than what the formula box said. If your lo is pooping, peeing and gaining weight then the amount he's taking is fine.
