How Many Sonograms Have You Had?

The reason why I ask is: I'm 13 weeks and 3 days today.

I had my first Sono On November 26, 2007. I was about 6 weeks then, so the baby was real small.

So, anyway I went to my doctor's yesterday for a visit, we checked the baby's heart and everything. After that I was hoping that she'll tell me that my next Sono will be like next week or so.

Only to find out that I have to wait til I'm 20 weeks.

Has this happen to you? Are there any Sono procedures that I do not know of?

I want to see my baby

She said at 20 weeks I'll know the sex and everything. I think that's too long.

Thats actually very normal. The only reason you would get more than one in most places is if you have a high risk pregnancy. Also, some other areas will only give you one U/S at 20 weeks if the pregnancy is progressing normaly. With my son I only had 2 done. One at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. With this pregnancy I'll be having a total of 4 because I ended up going into preterm labor with him. So now this pregnancy is considered high risk. So, if you have no problems I.E bleeding, cramping, etc then you'll probably only get those 2. Which sucks I know, I'd get one done every month if I could

Only 2.
One at 12 weeks for nuchal translucency.
One at 17 weeks for general anatomy.

That's it for me. No more will be scheduled.

Thanks for your answer. I was wondering why so many people are get frequent Sonos and I'm not. I understand now...

After I heard my baby's heart beat, I just wanted to see my baby that's all.
It's such a joy. Just for that lol I'm going to rent me a doppler.

I've had three done... 5 week... 7 weeks... and 20 weeks! I don't think I'll be having another until 34 weeks.

Yeah I think it's about $175-$300 depending on the package you choose.

I've had a couple, one at 15 weeks, another at 15 weeks from a different hospital, 2 at 20 weeks from different hospitals, 2 at 24 weeks, 1 at 26 weeks, and 1 at 28 weeks and I have another on friday, the reason I have so many is because i'm having twins, and I go to my regular doctor every 2 weeks now and she does an ultrasound but doesn't give me pictures but I also go to a different hospital for more detailed ultrasounds once a month to make sure they're growing ok, so i've gotten pictures of them about 5 times . . wow that's a lot lol

If we have the extra money we're going to get a 4-D done as well. It's gonna cost $200 here too. Lots of $$, but it's a 15-20 min scan, and you get a bunch of pics and a DVD to bring home.

Do you have a planned parenthood in your area? I used them for my sonograms and it was $90. It is only a dating sonogram, so they don't tell you anything about the baby or the sex, but it's nice to see the LO. I am using a midwife who only schedules one at 24 weeks, and I could not wait.

Over here some places do scheduled 12 week and 20 week scans, and others only do 20 week scans. It is very normal hun. x

I had quite a few as I'm a high risk pregnancy, 1st was at 7 weeks then I had one at 9, 11, 14, 17, 20, 28, 32. I've had so many due to bleeding and concerns on her growth

I also had about 5 with my HG and bleeding, but they was only because of medical reasons as with Jazzy, not because we get that luxury! x

Same thing for me... I had a scan at 7 weeks only to see a jelly bean looking baby! I figured I would have another one sometime soon like around 12 weeks or something, but no, not until 20 weeks. They wont do a scan unless they suspect something is wrong otherwise you get to wait.

It was kinda hard to wait but at the same time it was soooo amazing to see the change from that little jelly bean to something that looks like a baby!

Yes, we do have a plannned parenthood.

But I never knew they offer these programs. I'll look into though.
