How many weeks am I?

Hi all,

I am heartbroken.

I just went in for my first ultrasound and they didn't see anything at all. I was told it is probably eptopic or I will miscarry soon.
This is based on the fact that I am 6 weeks along.

Can you please tell me how far along I would be?
LMP july 1
Trigger Date july 18
probably ovulated around july 21

Does that mean I am 6 weeks or less?
Some sites are saying I am only 5 + 3 days

Should I be able to see something by now or should I just give up like the doctor said.

Dr's will be basing their numbers from LMP so as you ovulated later than the typical day 14 they are working off your dates would be off.

I think you're probably only 5 weeks and 1 day today... O day was 21st so 10 days left of july + the 12 we are in august = 22 days since O then add the '2 weeks' that we are not actually pregnant but Dr's count on measuring (not the 3 they will be calcultaing from LMP) that is in a typical pre O cycle = 36days pregnant = 5 weeks and 1 day. <<<<< i hope that makes sense!

Probably wouldn't see anything at that early stage fx things progress and you can prove them wrong x

Thank you so much! I just don't understand why should would tell me to give up hope? I agree that it seems like I should be closer to 5 weeks based on my trigger date. She seemed like it wasn't relevant though.

Id also say your about 5 weeks. And I also agree that being just barely 5 weeks would be really early. Hvae they taken your HCG levels? are they rising?

It is probably too early to see anything, don't give up hope yet.... when do you get another ultrasound?

Pretty asinine of them to say that! But in my experience, even when women chart most doctors insist on going by LMP. I am a late ovulating girl myself so my dates are ALWAYS off until they ultrasounds begin. So there's a good chance that you're just very early, based on your trigger and O dates.

I admit I am baffled that they said it's possibly ectopic and they didn't scan to see if they saw evidence of an ectopic. Did they say when your results will be back from your bloodwork?

my blood work was supposed to be back in a hour. now 7 hours later NOTHING!

Just wanted to send a hug your way. I say around 5ish weeks to.

Both my pregnancies are ivf so I know about triggers etc. this pregnancy at my 7 week scan even though my ovulation date was 100% certain I was STILL measuring another 4 days behind so even if you are 5 or so weeks, if you're also measuring another few days behind you really wouldn't see much at all of anything.

Here I wasn't allowed an u/s until 7 weeks because the stress and the fact everything is so small at this stage wasn't worth it. Fingers crossed your hcg comes back good and another scan in a week will show you something more! Xxx

You can normally see something at 1,200 so you are close! Have they offered you a rescan?

I have light spotting and its brown. I am so worried after she told me to give up hope. Should you be able to see a sac with beta 1023?

You're only 5 weeks 1 day, though your numbers from Aug 1 to Aug 4th should have doubled more. The first draw has a doubling time of 68 hours, and your third and fourth draw has a doubling time of 72 hours... :/ However, your second and third draw has a doubling time of 30 hours, which is good.

5 weeks is way too early to pronounce an ectopic, and often you don't see anything that early. At 6 weeks the tech could JUST BARELY find the baby for me. Scans that early are often needlessly stressful. Your blood draws aren't particularly promising, but don't lose hope! There are cases of slow-rising HCG turning out just fine!

Are they going to re-scan you?
