well i have been married 4 years and we only spent £3000 which includes everything from my dress to the food etc...

a friend of mine is getting married next septemeber. she has gone to her parents and has said she wants them to pay for her wedding in a hotel all the trimmings etc.. for a massive £23,000!!!!!

i'm in shock i'm like how can you spend so much money on a wedding. we had everything at ours and cos so little.

her parents are not tht well off! they rely on the family tax from there youngest son and the small loans they have. no of them work due to illness.

i'm just puzzled how a wedding could cost so much money!!

how much did you spend on your wedding???

xx

My wedding last August cost a total of £973! We got married in a registry office and had a bbq in our back garden after, we only had 26 guests. We had planned to do it just us and 2 witnessess, we booked and paid for it, I then decided I wanted my mum there and dh would have his mum and brother there, then my dad decided to fly over from Canada so it kind of snowballed from there! My dress came from China and cost £86, my shoes were a whopping £3! In fact dh suit and shoes cost more than mine lol. The most expense was the registry office and food! It was a perfect day and even if I had all the money in the world I would do it the same way! Sorry went on a bit of a ramble there lol.

I got married in our town hall, had the photos in the garden of a local museum the reception was at a local pub function room. We had a ceilidh followed by a disco.
Our honeymoon was a week in County Kerry, Ireland.
The wedding AND the honeymoon cost us just over £5000.

Around £75,000. No joke. My husbands family are completely over the top and he has a huge family. 350 people (50 of which were mine) and 3 different functions; the registry was £5000, pre wedding party was £20,000, the wedding and reception was £50,000). It could easily have been double the amount of people, could have had 2 more functions and cost would have easily doubled if I hadn't have reigned it in and put my foot down! I got to marry my soul mate so that was all that mattered to me,if it were up to me I would have had a wedding on the beach with ten people, haha xx

We're getting married in June and our budget is £12000. I worked out where we are and what we have to get and worked out were on track for about £11000 but that's with my parents paying for my dress and OHs parents paying for the photographer!
Our venue is £6000 which is cheap here, most of them cost about £8000/9000!
We have 120 guests to the day which obviously bumps up the costs but they are our family and close friends only!

It was about £4,000. And then £2,500 for the honeymoon afterwards. We did everything on a budget and it was the most amazing day - I just want to do it all over again! We will have been married a year on 1st October! :D

Ours was about about £22k which included our honeymoon, which was 5k. Our venue was on offer 6k plus VAT for 60 guests, but once we added on extra evening guests, a couple of extra meals, food for the band, string quartet, photographer, extra wine, champagne for the top table, chair covers, the bedrooms (it wasn't a hotel, was a stately home but had 12 guest bedrooms) it was closer to 12k. Plus things like dresses, kilts et al for the men, band, string wuartet, photographer, hair/makeup, etc etc etc the costs rise!!

I can see how costs spiral out of control though. We saved money were we could like making the invites, a friend did our flowers etc, as there were some things we wanted specifically like a swing band.

We were lucky though as both our parents helped and we saved a lot and spread the cost.

Nut Shake- I'd LOVE to see some pics!! xx

About 2,500 here and i had everything I wanted xx

15k...without a honeymoon - our bank hates us.
It was completely worth it though, the day was perfect.

Ours (june) will come to around 14k. Excluding honeymoon. Venue is 8.5k though before we had even thought about anything else.

about 11k including our honeymoon to mexico which cost 4k. weddings are always amazing, whether £2 or £200000 which is why we didn't spend *too* much money and we paid for most of it ourselves

£5000 but i wish i spent more on the photographer which was a friend of a friends husband...oh well when i win the lottery...

No more than £2000 , we had no honeymoon though, just an overnight stay at a posh hotel :haha:

we had a great low key one. cost about 1000 euro.

Me and OH reallllyyy want to fly to Vegas and do it there. So hopefully, about 3k.

I'm not married but my sister's cost just over £1000 and she made it all back in gifts as most people gave her money and vouchers. That's how they paid for their honeymoon to London x

Got married in cyprus so including the 2 weeks away and all wedding cost it was about 5000

I had a registry office wedding, we had a small party after with a buffet and DJ, there was a cake, we got my dress, the suit and bridesmaid dresses, flowers and such and it totalled about £500-700. If I could go back in time I would have just sorted out the paperwork at the registry office and not bothered with anything else. But I would personally find spending a lot on a wedding a huge waste of money and would find a huge wedding really uncomfortable to have that many people staring at me.
