How much did your wedding cost?

To the op, its def unfair of her to expect her parents to pay that much, especially when they don't have it. If she wants a lavish wedding she should pay for it herself! My husband paid for our whole wedding himself. If family want to help that's great, but I don't think it should be expected, not that much anyway! And RachA is right, an expensive wedding doesn't guarantee a great wedding, if there's no heart in it, no real love and care from the couple and guests the wedding has no warm atmosphere. I know people who have spent millions on their weddings, and they've been boring and cold and the whole thing has felt like a 'show'. However I've been to expensive (and not expensive) weddings that have been so beautiful and you've felt the love from every corner of the room. It just comes down to love, that's what a wedding should be all about anyway :) xx

Couldn't agree more!
You pictures are fab btw, you look beautiful :)

We spent quite a bit on our wedding and honeymoon, I dont know exactly cause the one time I started to add the costs up I got scared and stopped! We decided to have what we wanted (it was all paid for by us) so we had an amazing day, the venue was beautiful and we splashed out on food and wine and we had an amazing honeymoon. I think the total cost was around £50,000 for everything.

We are getting married next July. So far the venue is £3000 + £300 for registrar my mum is paying for my dress and i reckon the cake decorations and bridesmaid dresses i can do for round £500. No idea on honeymoon as oh is not telling the plan til we are married! We have a sit down meal for 35 evening for 70 and ceremony all in a posh hotel in London. Can't wait!

Gorgeous pics nut shaker!! :) Ours cost about £4000, over £1800 was on photographer/video as they were important to us :) the reg office alone was £4-500 though!!
We had it in a reg office then on a farm (£600), made all our decorations ourselves and had a hog roast (£600) :) My dress cost me £80 from etsy, my husband made his ring (he did make mine too but it didnt go with my engagement ring so we had to buy one) we borrowed garden marquees from friends and everyone helped makes cakes etc :) I did my hair and makeup and I had no bridesmaids and we used our own truck as a car.
It was exactly how we wanted it, but if we could change anything we would have got married earlier in the day other than 4pm!! But then saying that, I wouldn't have been able to be at the farm in the morning decorating :)
You spend what you spend, if it's more than you can afford then I think its a bit silly, but up to you! It's your day and it should be how you want it to be :)
If we had spent more we wouldn't be in a stronger happier marriage, thats how we look at it (infact would prob be worse as we would have more money worries ;) )

Our wedding was actually blogged on rock and roll bride, heres the link if anyone wants to be nosy :) ......

wow your wedding looked so much fun and your photos are stunning!

Wow, Ellberry I really love your wedding. It seems like it was beautiful but truly unique.

Thankyou :) We were totally chuffed it got on the blog, we were like 'yay we're cool!!!!' :)

We had a really small wedding with just parents, siblings, grandparents and a couple of close friends and it cost about 3 and a half grand.

About £6500, it was a late deal though which is why it was so cheap. Normally the venue we used would cost about £12000, so we got a very good deal!!

We spent £50 yes just £50

I got married two weeks ago, we had a private ceremony in a country Inn in America, 7 nights in a 4*, 7 nights in a city hotel, an amazing photographer, visited New York, Boston, Cape Cod, Connecticut and other places. clothes, flights, flowers, rings, absolutely everything for about £10,000.

Reception, the in laws are paying for in a couple of months for close friends and family.

Wilbz how on earth did you manage that?? The cheapest the reg office price we could find was £170 odd!!!

probably around $10,000 which includes dress and accessiories as well

Including honeymoon (we got married abroad) it was around £150000.

That's what I was wondering, it's costing us £70 just to give notice, then our registrar cost £441 so that's before anything else!

Including our honeymoon it was around £24,000, however we had the funds to pay for it ourselves. OH said from the beginning he wanted a big wedding and he was going to go all out because he's only doing it once, so we had a long (7 years) engagement and saved up. In the end we did get contributions towards from parents which was great, but we didn't expect anyone to contribute.

I know some people think thats crazy money for just one day but the memories will last a lifetime, I don't regret it one bit.

We got married for £1k we had reg office sit down meal cake evening reception decorations and DJ too

27k including honeymoon. We saved up and paid for it ourselves (no loans), though my husband's parents gave us 4k and my parents gave us 5k. It's only money though and we work hard, so what the hell! It was an amazing day
