How much do you spend on baby a month? :)

I must use shit loads of wipes compared to everyone else! I buy a 12 pack every month! Prob use 8-10 of them.

lol I only use 1-2 per time. I wipe, fold, wipe, fold, wipe, fold...then grab a new one to go over everything to be sure I didn't miss. every once in a while there is a giant blow out but that's usually enough

I grab a handful then dump. No shit is getting on my hands! Think I average 5 wipes for a poop but they all tend to go up his back and all round his todger.

haha, what brand do you use? I know when I was testing out brands some were thin and got the poo all over my hands, had to toss after one wipe. but the costco are thick and hold together and large so I can just fold and not worry about it on my hands

This has been pretty helpful I think i've whittled out a rough monthly spend of £30 a month BFing or £70 with formula (using healthy start vouchers to knock it down to £45)

Plus saving clothing £20-30 a month for clothing? maybe less dependent on where

Oh now you have got me thinking:

I reckon we get through a tin of formula every 5-6 days so at least £45-50 per month.

I buy aldi nappies or asda little angels and they are less than a £5 for a pack of 56 I prob buy a pack every week so roughly £20 per month.

Wipes I buy on offer, either Johnsons extra sensitive or asda little angels. I can usually buy them for less than £1 per pack and I use perhaps 1 a week also.

I seem to go through an extraordinary amount of cotton pads though so I would say prob £10 per month on them.

I would say I spend about £50 per size of clothing. We are just stocking up on my lg 9-12 month and 12-18 month stuff!

Oh and I am sooo economical with wipes. 1-2 per change and that includes poo nappies! If its an explosion I may have to use some more though lol.

Nappies - $30 US a month
Wipes - $6 a month ( I only ever use on his bum, he has really sensitive skin so if I use them on his face it reakl
Formula - $ 100 a month

Food - he just gets fruits/veggies at the mo so eats whatever we have in the house. I don't plan on every using jars so he will eat what we eat.

Clothes - we got given a load second hand and also some as gifts. The only thing I ever need to buy are sleepsuits so maybe about $10 every 8 weeks.

I switched from EBF to formula at 4 months and must admit part of me regrets it even though I do think we are both a bit happier. Breastfeeding is so much cheaper and convenient but it was just not satisfying my LO and I couldn't pump so returning to work was a big factor.

I really believe a baby can be as expensive as you make it. If we were more skint I'd use cheaper ways of doing things.

I had a realllyyy bad poo explosion in asda once and used an entire pack of wipes hahah.

First 6 months about $15-20 a month on diaper/wipes. After 6 months, cost of food jumps that up to closer to $40-50 a month. He's a really piggy!
I had to combo feed with formula starting at 2 months, but I made sure to get all the free samples I could and my stash of free samples lasted until he was six months old. After that I spent a total of $60 on formula to last from 6 months until 12 months when he switched to cow's milk.
I buy all my diapers and wipes in bulk and on sale, so the average diaper is .10-.12 cents and wipes .015-.02 cents each.
I got all my clothes used or as gifts, so I spend less than $20 on clothing for the first year.

We mainly use cloth nappies (disposal one for night)

If I wasn't bf there would be a further £40 (£10 a week) for formula.

About £25 on nappies (2 large boxes of pampers). £9 on wipes (box of 10/12 depending on deal, usually last a little longer than a month) . £36 on formula (3 tubs at £12 each, anti reflux)
Porridge, cereal, fruit and veg etc around £20 ish a month, I buy and make in bulk then freeze for a few weeks.

I am guilty of buying him new clothes and toys Everytime I see something I like when I go out, I daren't add up how much we spend on that sort of thing. My OH would have a heart attack lol. Worth every penny though x

This time round next to nothing!

Cloth nappies, breastfeeding and reusing clothes and toys. Only thing I buy at the moment is wet wipes!

With ds1 prob around £10. Again cloth nappies (do had initial outlay but also had the £250 they used to give you so used it to buy these), breastfed, hand me down or car boot sale clothing and same with toys really.

Toddlers and preschoolers cost more and sure costs will continue to go up!

Nappies- We use cloth and I had all the nappies I needed from my 1st LO so I haven't bought any more. So I don't spend money on nappies but I'd guess at maybe £2 a month for washing liquid/running the washing machine.

Wipes- I use a mix of cloth wipes and Huggies wipes. I buy wipes when they're on offer, I would say I spend maybe £2.50 a month on wipes.

Food- I breastfeed so don't spend money there. DD has 1 bottle of formula most evenings. A tub of formula lasts roughly a month and costs £11.50.
We do BLW so DD just eats what we eat. I don't have to spend extra on her portions as I always make loads of food anyway! I buy a few extra things like rice cakes, a bit of extra fruit... I would guess that I spend maybe £5 month on extra food for DD.

So for essentials, roughly £20 a month.

Things are just settling down money wise. We spent a lot the first month because we realized we needed more than we thought and LO leaked out of several different brands of diapers before we found two that work.

So now it should be
Luvs diapers= $32.99 for a box of 252 diapers @ 9 diaper changes a day
Wipes=$19.99 for 958 wipes- we go through a lot of these
Formula= $29.99 for Similac Supplementation formula every two months.


I bought all the clothes he needed for up to 12 months, so I won't be spending money on that.

We combination feed with a bottle of 2 oz of formula mixed with 2 oz of BM right before bed. It helps him (and by proxy, me) sleep better. He was also getting dehydrated and this way it seems to help him keep hydrated better.

We cloth diaper 95% of the time, and DH's parents gave us a bunch of Huggies so no expense there.... except we're on vacation (still mostly in cloth though!) so I did end up buying one pack. Otherwise, $0/month

Wipes, I tend to use cloth ones at home, and disposables when out or for anything really poopie & messy. Again we've been using more on vacation, but I'm only just about to open my 2nd order of 600 (or 800?) wipes refills. I did buy a few smaller packs here & there in the beginning. So like $3/month there maybe.

Oh diaper liners. I've been using the flushable liners as we are dealing with transitional poop at the moment. I don't know if we'll continue with those, or if I'll cut up some microfleece to make my own, but since I don't use them for every diaper change, just if I think he's going to poop, it would be less than one pack/month I think. So less than $4/month.

Food, he's breastfed so nothing for milk. We're weaning and doing a mixed approach of BLW and purees since we get the jars for free, so nothing substantial there.

Clothing, I really have no idea. I try to check out clearance racks when I'm in the store so I can buy ahead, though for dress clothes I might have to pay more, but I really don't keep track of this area. He doesn't have tons of clothes as we don't have the space and I do laundry constantly anyway to keep up (small washing machine!) so I doubt it's very much overall.

By the time you add in laundry costs and any little extras (some Ella's Kitchen cookies for him, etc) we would maybe maybe average $15/month? Maybe $20? Either way, it's negligible, imo.
