How much milk does/did your 3 month old take per bottle?

My daughter only takes 1 1/2 to 2oz at a time...needless to say, we go through a lot of bottles in a day since she's hungry every couple of hours, except at night she'll usually do a 6-7 hour stretch before waking for milk. Even getting her to take the 2 oz usually needs to be done an ounce at a time. Her weight gain is fine...15lbs now, which can is double her birth weight. Should I be concerned? Any tips to get her to take more or is this just what her particular stomach can handle since she has reflux? Everything I've read said she should be taking 5-7oz at a time.

Not sure if it has anything to do with going from EBF to mostly bottles of hypoallergenic formula for her dairy/soy allergies but that change was over a month ago. She still nurses twice//day as I'm dairy and soy free but milk supply has gotten very low

DS was taking 6oz every 4hrs at 3 months.. he is now almost 5 months and taking 8oz every 4hrs, he has only just hit 15lbs (birth weight 8lbs).

I wouldn't worry as long as she is gaining weight and not dropping centiles although I know it can be a bit of a pain because it feels like your whole life revolves around bottles, having to be somewhere you can warm one up and you must be washing and sterilizing bottles all the time.

Luckily so far DS has always had bottles every 4hrs but is a little bit of a slow gainer.

My baby was (and still is) a slow eater that drinks little and often. He was doing the same as your baby is now, taking between 1.5 to 2 ounces. Even now, he won't take more than six ounces at a time, and he's over six months old. I'd say if she is happy and healthy, try not to worry. She will let you know when she is hungry.

DS is 3.5 months and has 5 6oz bottles a day but he rarely takes all six oz at once usually he takes 3-4oz then has a 30min break before finishing his bottle. If it helps he was 8lb1 at birth and at 3months weighed 13lb7oz.

1-2oz every 1-2 hours or sometimes less. Very rarely more

I think some of them just don't take that much milk. Our lg never drank more than 5oz in one go, I think at 3 months she was about 2oz too. I used to feed her every 2 hours all day too. I always thought the advice on the formula bottles was ridiculous. They suggest some huge amount when they're brand new too don't they? I got so upset that I was bullied to force feed her huge amounts of formula when bf wasn't happening for us. I just didn't understand how a squeeze of colostrum would satisfy her, but she had to have like a gallon of formula. That's totally not relevant (!!) but I guess it just illustrates the directions on the packets don't really mean anything. As long as they're gaining weight they're ok, I really wouldn't worry :-)

Now she eats like a horse and has three meals a day with no snacks....

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm feeling better.

Yesterday was an extreme day for her-only .5 oz at a time for a total of 3oz between 7am and 2pm so we went in to doctors....turns out she has a UTI and that's why she ate les than usual yesterday. She's on antibiotics now and back to 1-2iz at a time so I'm feeling relieved.

I forgot to say that our little guy is mix fed with Neocate and me dairy, soy, egg, gluten free etc and when he has the Neocate he has considerably less than when he has breastmilk. I'd like to think that's because he needs less formula but I think the truth is just that it doesn't taste good

How is your little guy doing? Haven't seen an update on the CMPI support thread but I've been thinking of you all and hoping you've started to see some improvements
