how many oz does your 5 month old baby have per feed? and how many feeds?

Barry gets:
8oz (morning feed) + 2tbs baby oatmeal
6oz (breakfast)
6oz (lunch)
8oz (dinner) + 2 veg and 1 fruit (BLW)
8oz (if he wakes for it)

however, hes acting like hes STILL hungry after his dinner, he wasnt waking through the night for about 2 weeks and then he started to again.

he had a carrot, a brocoli tree and a pineapple chunk, - he ate most of the pineapple about half the carrot and half the brocoli. he then had 8oz and was STILL hungry so i offered him another 6oz, 4.5oz of which he drank.

should he be eating this much? it seems like a lot? should i be offering him more?

Maybe try smaller meals more often. I cannot imagine feeding a 5 month old that much so maybe I'm not the best help.

Anna never took that amount of milk (EVER!)

Max milk Anna took in a day was 24oz - 4 bottles of 6oz or 5 bottles of 5oz.

Remember there is no fat in the vegs so they will not be quenching his appetite if he is hungry. Let LO have as much milk as he wants at this age. In a few weeks time you can increase the amount of solids and not worry if he drops a bottle quickly as he is having plenty. You are both doing great!:flower:

Hi hun, as long as he's happy with what he's having there is nothing to worry about. He might be going through a growth spurt (There is one at around 6 months). We started weaning at 6.5 months & Omar wasnt keen on milk at Barry's age. Once he's 6+ months & he's taking more filling solids his milk intake with get less, there is nothing to worry about. xx

i dont think smaller meals would help as he sleeps a good amount and id have to start waking him from naps/bedtime to do that.

thank you both, im just worried that im doing something wrong because hes drinking such a lot of milk. he drank 12 oz at bedtime last night and then another 8oz 7 hours later and then 6oz 4 hours after that.

he tends to drink a bottle every 4 hours. he used to sleep through the night but the last few days hes been waking up wanting a bottle and will happily drink 8oz without a problem. i have noticed that he used to sleep at set times and now even his naps are a little all over the place and hes waking through the night.

we're BLW so i know getting solids into him mgiht take a while. im in no rush, he seems to be enjoying playing and nibbling on the carrots etc i give him for dinner. but i dont want to increase solids till 6months+

i guess im just really worried im doing something wrong ebcause hes drinking upto 40oz a day!
