Is there anyone out there that either a) is a cleaner or b) hires a cleaner to clean their house?

I'm looking to hire a cleaner for 3 hours per week to clean my house as I'm struggling to cope with working 50 hours a week, being 21 weeks pregnant and keeping a 5 bed house under control (even though only 2 of us live in it :) ) - if anyone can tell me what the going rate for a cleaner at the moment is it would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm based up in Durham so northern prices if possible ;) Cheers!

Have you tryed ringing molly maid? Aparently there really good, i dont know how much they cost tho xx

i no someone who is a private cleaner and she charges around £20 per day and thats say a good 3 hours per house.

private cleaners tend to be cheaper then compainies

try looking in your local paper @ the jobs going for cleaners, and compare the wages.
when i was a part time cleaner @ a care home (when i was 16-17 yrs old) i got £5.01 per hour.

I think my mum paid our cleaner £30 for 4 hours a week. She was bloody useless though! We got her out the local paper x

The girl that comes to our house gets £10 an hour for three hours cleaning plus an extra £10 for travel. She is a lovely girl but I'm about to tell her not to stop coming as 5 think she has got a little complacent and has damaged several things.

My advice would be to have a look on gumtree for cleaners advertising in your area to see how much they are charging. I would also advise using a professional cleaning firm as they have total insurance coverage.

Good luck, like you I work long hours and at the start it was so lovely coming home one day a week to a nice clean house.

I had a cleaner who came for 3 hours a week and she charged me £6 an hour, which isnt much really. Unfortunately, she left me in May as she has too much work on.. I really miss her!
She was recommended to me by someone at my work, so you could ask about for a personal recommendation?

I'm just going for a cleaners job as I need some extra cash. If I get the job they'll pay me £6 per hour but I'd say the company will charge the client £10 an hour x

It depends on the type of cleaner. Last one I had was just a local lady who I paid £8 ph.
I had a small local firm do it at one point, they were £10 an hour, and did get a little bit more done (and it didn't feel so bad telling them just how you want things) but I couldn't give them enough hours really.

My mum gets £25 for 3 hours :)

We pay £10 per hour for our cleaner. She was recommended by someone we know. I have to say though, she doesn't quite do it to the standard that I do but it is sooo much nicer not to have to spend hours cleaning I must say.

Molly Maid are very expensive. At least they are down here.
