How much will the NHS do......

When we had our appointment we were told as my OH had 2 children we wouldnt be entitled to IVF.

He said that we could try the clomid. We both had our tests done, and i concieved after my Hsg.

Its really not fair when they say you cant have IVf due to a partners previous children.
I wish you lots of luck.

let me know how the appointment goes! ill keep in touch about mine which is april 22nd

Will do, good luck with yours

so your appointments in the morning then? they will prob just discuss different methods of treatments and tests you'll be taking ect. i had an internal examination at my 1st appointment where they tested for tender spots and things like that. they also took swabs and tested me for std's and infections. so im guessing thats what they will do for you too. it was embarrasing for me because i was on my period at the time!!!!! they said it was ok and would go ahead if i was comfortable with it but i thought sod it ive waited this long ill just do it! so i did and it wasnt that bad. my appointments in a few weeks, cant wait! my boobs have started getting tender which means :witch: is on her way or im on my way to the :bfp: ive been dreaming of! anyways, let me know how it goes!!! good luck!!!

FX crossed for your :bfp: hopefully you won't need your appointment xxxx

We did all the medical history bit, weight, height, how long ttc etc... They had a look at DP SA which was fine. They didn't have my 21 day results from my gp (they were fine) so are sending me for a repeat of those along with full blood tests. I had an internal and a smear and I think she took swabs for infections too. I came away with an appointment for a hycosy (apparently checks for blockages in tubes) and a scan (not sure what this is for) in about 5 weeks and then a follow up appointment 2 weeks after that.

She did say I could do with losing some weight (I'm a size 12!!) so I'm concentrating on that atm. I'm currently 3DPO but not hopeful because I O'd two days later than usual so bd wasn't timed to perfection this month.

In my NHS area (Somerset) you get funded for two cycles even if your partner has previous chiildren. It really depends on your local PCT. You will be referred to a specialist and all the investigations will be free, but if you PCT is not allowing funding for IVF because of your DH, then you will have to pay for the IVF yourself. I didn't expect my PCT to be so generous so you never know you might be lucky. Good luck

well your hospital sounds alot better than mine! they gave me a phone number at my 1st appointment and told me to ring up on the 1st day of my period to book a hsg and everytime i rang up they said they were fully booked for that month! it took me 3 months to get even an appointment and then it was another month from the day i got my appointment till the actual exam! i didnt even get offered a scan!!! so its good that you got your appointment there and then. maybe they think that because im so young they have loads of time with me and im not really an urgent case because my partner has a daughter already. but hes 36 and his daughter is only 7 years younger than me so its not like i can pretend ive brought her up! cant believe they told you to loose weight when your only a size 12!! i thought that was quite a healthy weight! they told me i was underweight but that if im still having periods then its not a prob and im a size 8. i cant put weight on, i have tried really hard but i will do when im pregnant! just found out my younger sister is pregnant again for the 2nd time. she came off the pill 2 months ago after being on it for 3 years and didnt even have time for a period! she got caught straight away! she dont work or nothing, its just not fair!! i dont know how many days dpo i am at the minute but im thinking its about 14-15 dpo. i want to do another test but i darent! have they suggested you taking clomid or anything after your tests have been performed? they told me in my 1st appointment that the usual early treatment is clomid.

:dust:

Clomid has never been mentioned as yet. I know I ovulate fine so I suppose I don't need it but you see others who ovulate on their own being prescribed it and I don't know what to think. I reckon its good that they booked me in for the physical tests so quickly though as it seems they all have pretty long waiting lists and I can get them out of the way first.
 fx for you when you test xxx

Ive also heard your not entitled to NHS help with IVF if you or your partner has children already. We are in the same boat, my DP is 34 with 2 children but he went and had the snip while he was with his ex. I dont have any children myself and its going to be a real struggle for us. Of course ours is a different situation, but I think there should be more help out there.
Good luck

i ovulate fine on my own to but still i was prescribed clomid because my cycles varied from 27-36 days. its made my cycles shorter around 28 days. now im on cd 33! on my 6th and last roundof clomid. im about 4 days late for af, tested last night but got :bfn: so im thinking my lateness is down to a chest and throat infection that ive got at the mo. but you never know! hopefully! fingers crossed i might get my positive soon!!! jeanettekaren im still in shock about how quickly you got your appointments, wish i lived in your area! makes me mad how things are different depending on what post code you have. ivf should be available for every couple with ttc issues, atleast 1 cycle, no matter where you live! we're all human and we all have feelings!!!!

Well ladys seems like i have a long road ahead from reading everyones post's on here! My partners 14yrs older than me and has two kids from his first wife!
Here's to waiting!
