my section was yesterday. I have been breastfeeding. Almost nonstop;-) this is more manageable than the discomfort I had with my first vaginal delivery. BUt it is agony today! Is it usual to be so bad on the first day post operative?

Mine got better every day after the first day. As long as I was still though, I had no pain.

Yes. you just had major abdominal surgery so pain is to be expected. Take all the pain killers you need. I was on strong painkillers for a good week afterwards although it got a bit better each day.

I was in agony the first couple of days - Sophie was born on the Sunday afternoon, and the first time I got to go to NICU to see her was the monday lunchtime, and I was in so much pain, I almost passed out sitting by her incubator. That was after going there in a wheelchair as well. The next day I had to get up and have a shower, and that was absolutely awful, but once I was up and about, it really did get better each day, and by the end of the first week, I noticed a dramatic improvement.

Sophie was in NICU 60 miles away from home for 3 months, and I was travelling to see her practically every day from one week after she was born (which was when I escaped from the hospital :haha:) without too much pain.

Congratulations on your new LO :) xxx

I couldnt shower fr a good few days - prob 5 after the surgery. Just couldnt bear moving unneccesarily. It does get better though.

mine was very painful, i couldnt get out the bed on my own and even though my daughters little incubator bed thing was right next to mine, i couldnt turn to take her out, it was so bad. i had my partner help me out of bed and i couldnt even get my knickers on without having to shout for help it was so embarrassing:/ it got better with every day though x

Yes first day after a section is the worse imo. how are you on here if you only had section yday? you not still in hospital?? lol

i had an elective, my section recovery had been long, hard and at times painfull.
The sectin itself went fine but i did loose more than average blood and because of this i was put on irn tabs and felt very faint and dizzy for first 24hours after.
I hd bad reaction to the spinal it make me throw up for 7hours after and i couldnt keep any water down. due to this i was not allowed to eat or ave any visitors for the whole of that day/night (i had my section at midday) the amount of time in recovery after section is normally 2hours i was there for 12hours after. i was really ill, howeverat about12am i was able to get out of bed and walk around. but the first few days after i couldnt stand up straight.

i went on to have various probs after infection in my scar which took 2 lots of antibiotics to clear, probs with bowels, nausea, bleeding for 10weeks, my meds made me feel ill. breastfeedin went fine or me too till my milk came in.

i'm almost 11weeks past my sec tion and i still get sore at times. you need to give it time it has only been a day! you just had major surgery lol

for the first 2-3 days i felt rubbish, dizzy and sick but not alot of pain as i was on pain killers. however by the end of the first week i felt pretty much back to normal.

I was only given tylenol for painkillers once I left the hospital (less than 48 hours after surgery)
For the most part it was uncomfortable but not painful
I did feel a lot of pulling and had to be super careful to move slow otherwise it did hurt. I was still getting pain and discomfort up to 6 weeks post surgery and the scar is still uncomfortable to put pressure on

agree with the others the first couple of days are painfull, but it does get better the more mobile you get

Thank you ladies:thumbup: Some of you had an awful experience:cry:

The day i posted was the worst day-the day after.

Now, i have just done three loads of washing and been shopping. I am mad! But they gave me strong painkillers for the first 48hrs so i think that must have helped.

Hardest thing for me is not being able to lift up my tot for a cuddle or to put her in her cot, but hopefully she wont remember!

That is the hardest for me too! I miss our cuddles n being able to hold him n pick him up.
