How to get a false VFP

After getting several very faint positives on internet cheapies HPT's, I decided to find out why.

The only correlation I could think of was, I was still OPK testing on the same days, usually from the same pee cup... so I had an idea..

Would using the same cup of pee for both sticks affect results? What if the OPK somehow touched the HPT? Would it also affect the results?

So...

I dipped the opk and two hpt's in the same cup, put one hpt well away from the opk to dry. I touched the other hpt & opk together, side on, for a few seconds, then put aside to dry. Then dipped another hpt in another cup of pee which had not had any sticks dipped in (as a control)

Look very closely at the HPT underneath the OPK.. see the faint pink line? See the one from the same pee cup and different pee cup, both BFN's!

Guess I wasn't pregnant on monday & tuesday after all, pmsl!!

Yep OPKs and HPTs that come into contact with each other can distort the HPT result!

I read on another website that never to use the same urine sample for OPK and Hpts.

Mine are seperated in packages. I had tuns of light postives even up until 9 days late. They were so light I thought they werent there. I was infact pregnant with my econd daughter. Nice experiment by the way! I am so into that

I had no idea that they could affect each other ... maybe I now need to separate pots for my pee so I can do two tests at one time ... ooohhh it's getting so technical!!

oh dan o i did that last month and thought i was a bfp when infact i touched the opk with the hpt ..i was so pissed off...however, do you think you might be pregnant? have u taken anyother tests? ..
