How in the world do you pick a date for a planned CS. My fear is that if it is planned too early, baby wont get all the benefits as if they would have been born by letting labor start on its own. (my first was born at 41+5 and im certain of dates). Or if you plan it too far into the future and then you go into labor, then what? (my second was born at 38+3 and im certain on dates). I think it would be much easier to figure out a date if both of my kids were late, or both were early but i kind of feel insecure about a date bc as you can see my kids arrived at TOTALLY different times, in fact one needed one extra month and say i would have been induced or had a CS with him at the usual 39 weeks, he would have been born nearly a month too soon!

so how do you decide on the date?

I was told with my last pregnancy that they schedule them at 39 weeks. I was never given a choice. Each hospital/country could be different though. I was also told if I went into labor early they would perform the c section early. Mine was for medical reasons.

You're not given a choice at my hospital. They do planned sections on Fridays and they don't do them until you're 39 weeks.

Here i would have the choice (USA)...so if you all had a choice, when would you say, based on my children's gestational times? 39 weeks would have been nearly a month too early for my first, so thats concerning, but at the same time it would have been a week late for my second

I was told I couldn't have mine until 39 weeks and no earlier. I had mine bang on 39 weeks and I was quite happy with that. I don't think I could have waited any longer than that though lol.

39 weeks is when the lungs are fully developed, so i'd go for then or my EDD personally :)
