how to tell how much your baby has drunk?

i am just wondering do you count how much the baby has drunk from the amount of water you put in the bottle or after you have added the powder and shaken it?

when u make an 8oz bottle up with formula and water thats how much is in it x

so you say you filled the bottle up with 8oz of water then added the powder and it went up to 8 1/2oz. You would count it as 8 1/2oz not 8oz? Sorry i confused lol
