Anyone have any ideas on how to differentiate amniotic fluid leak from discharge?

I just had a heavier than normal day (sorry TMI). It is clear.

Sigh. . .

I was wondering the same thing. I'm 16 weeks and have had watery discharge the last few days. Sorry, TMI.

Here's another TMI question too, did your's change in smell at all? Just different than before?

I'm embarrassed again. Darn these nagging questions!

I didn't want to read and run,,, but I have had days when my discharge was worse than other days and even clear and watery like, but if it is a lot then it might not hurt just to have it checked out for your own peace of mind. When I get this mine is usually odorless, but there has been a time a few days ago when I weed a little and didn't even realize it until I went to the restroom  (sorry T.M.I)

Im 21 weeks and ive had increased discharge, i asked the MW about it and she said its normal as long as its not thrush or you dont think its your waters leaking. For it to be your waters leaking you would have to be literally soaking a pad.

I've seen this question being asked quite alot recently, including by myself! So i came to the conclusion it must just be pretty normal for the stage were all at x

Af is like water. If you run it between your fingers it absorbs like water, whereas dc is slimier. Also if you were leKing af, you would probably need a pad.

Dc is not shiny or reflective on tissue either - it absorbs like water.

I saw the midwife about this yesterday and I spent all morning on labour ward as they were worried I had ruptrued menbrains. Everything turned our to be fine the doctor said to go back if I get a gush of fluid or if it runs down my leg or obviously if I bleed. I guess it's different for everyone if ur worried have it checked xx

when the waters behind my baby's head went (which isn't hte main waters, it's like a tiny bit) I literally soaked about three pairs of underwear ... I thought I was wetting myself at first and (tmi) i smelt it and was like this isn't wee... I know this sounds silly but I think you will def know if your fluid is leaking compared to discharge - but watery discharge is common :)

Oh and I remember it being mentioned last year about how you can get (i think they're) PH strips and you can test and it tells you whether it's fluid or not!

You waters smell like a sweet sperm smell... lol and for your waters to be leaking you do not gave to be soaking a pad, it can slowly leak out also if its your waters you notice it when you stand up that it will leak a little because its pooled while you were sat down.
Feel free to pm me if you want to ask anything else, my waters leaked for 2weeks before i gave birth x

I have had this as well, its not usually a lot but yesterday there was quite a gush like feeling (when stood in Tesco's queue), when I checked there wasn't loads but it felt horrid and panicked me. I am seeing the midwife on Tuesday so going to ask her about it. It doesn't help I don't feel pregnant, have no symptoms, haven't felt bean move or my little bump feels more like flab tham baby (having a off day, can you tell) xx

Awh...:hugs::hugs::hugs:

iv had the same for the past week or so and before i had it, i read a post the same as this so i was kind of prepared for it and i assumed its normal. i asked my midwife yesterday and she didnt seem to know and just wrote in my notes to call labour ward if i got worried.i also had a gender scan on saturday and i would have thought they would have said something if my waters were less than normal

According to my pregnancy book, if it smells ammonia-like, it is probably not amniotic fluid (more likely urine, etc.) but if it smells sweet, it may be amniotic fluid. For what it's worth, I have had a few days where I've been really paranoid about, ahem, 'dampness down below' and thinking 'what if it's amniotic fluid?' and it has never turned out to be anything! I think normal discharge can be pretty watery too, but if you start soaking through panty liners it may be worth getting it checked out (and if you are really worried, get it checked out anyway).

I was told amniotic fluid doesnt have a smell when i was rushed in to hospital because of fluid loss lol! Everyone seems to be told something different x

I feel like I am leaking too now and my af is very low - plus I have been suffering bad bh for a month already.
