How will you do night feeds with formula

I didn't realize so many people warm the formula? Is it necessary or just preference? I just buy gallons of bottled water and use that at room temp...

You don't have to warm up bottles, they just prefer to. My Dr said cold straight from the fridge is fine, microwaving bottles is a huge no-no though, I thought everyone knew that!

Isn't it more to do with hot spots?

Do not microwave bottles/formula. Everyone knows that! It's a big deal in the US, and there is good reason for it. Microwaves can/do heat unevenly, and the risk of scalding your baby's mouth is there. Bottle warmers are not expensive. Get one.

Scaremonger much?!?

anyone microwaving uses common sense and shakes the bottle. Plus, if you heat a bottle for 30/40 seconds, the milk does not reach a boiling hot temperature

I microwave mine.. Shake them really well and I do it for a minute. He hates milk that's cool. And will on drink room temp if he's starving.
It doesn't get warm enough from putting it in a bowl of hot water.. What am I supposed to do starve him lol? I always check the temp. And it's perfect. :)

Feel free to get my screaming bubba to take a slightly warm bottle from a bottle holder? :haha:

I think the microwave guidelines are there to warn of the dangers of possible scalding, and probably aimed at people with zero common sense, I think 99% of mums would know to shake the bottles well and would only slightly heat them!

If you only heat the bottle for 30 secs its barely warm it just takes the chill off so wont burn!

According to formula instructions, I'm a terrible mom because I microwave mine:blush: usually takes 10-20 seconds. I just shake the bottle really well to make sure there's no hot spots. I prepare 2-3 bottles before going to bed so i just have to put one in the microwave when DD wakes up. Cold formula or milk is ok, she just doesn't really like it.

Just buy a $15 bottle warmer. OR, get a Baby Brezza kettle, that keeps the water at 98*. Simple, fast, pour shake and feed. Simple.

I used to boil kettle and warm bottle in a cup that way... was taking too long and he was getting really stressed when hungary so i just started microwaving... 30 seconds add milk and shake... Ive been doing that for the past year and i will again with this baby. Most in the uk do but bottle warmer took too long. And u all know what its like when u have a screaming baby. He was getting me stressed.

Thanks all for advice i may have to keep popping downstairs through night to warm bottles or may buy a flask

Ye he likes it warm... ive been told that cold milk or even at room temp can cause baby to have a bad belly.

My tomee tipee flask was one of my best buys, and when you are out, you can use to lid, fill with boiling water and warm bottles that way :)

With my eldest I did the pre made bottle and microwave route, this time we do the flask and add to cooled boiled water for a perfect temp bottle. Both children are surviving just fine with no scalding or burning!

We warm up our boys bottle by putting it in the kettle and taking out it before the kettle boils, letting it warm up that way xx
