Just curious, how would you pronounce the name Milan? I'm Indian and wondering if it would be a difficult name to pronounce in the US.

Hey Future Mama,

I'm also Indian and my nephews name is Milan, he lives in Nashville and everyone pronounces his name correctly, sometimes they have to correct people but then they always remember (at school etc)... or close enough...kind of like Dylan with an M lol!

Mee-LAN

eta I think of it as a boy's name

Mi LAN

(Short I as in "bin", LAN to rhyme with tan, ban, fan)

That's a tricky one. I think if I saw it written I'd just assume it's My-lawn

Dylan with a M sounds completely different the way I say it.

ETA - Perhaps I'm basing it off of the name Milo (My-lo) so it'd be similar to that

I'm guessing all the "lawn" posters just have American accents and that's how they'd say the place too :haha:

Mi-Lan.
Do American's pronounce the city as My-lawn? Mind blown :haha:

Haha I'm American and I didn't even think before pronouncing it Me-Lawn! Isn't that how the city is pronounced?! This whole thread has me second guessing myself...

I know somebody called this, and his name is pronounced Mill-un (a bit like what a pp said about Dylan with an M) I've also heard it pronounced Mee-lan, and then obviously how we'd pronounce the city (from the UK) Mil-an. My-lawn wouldn't enter my mind!
