How would YOU pronounce....

FYI, DH said Lie-La.

But think, how do you pronounce Mila? Mee-la or My-la? Just food for thought.

I would say Lie-la. Our dd is Lilah and despite me thinking it would be really obvious to anyone else how to say her name, so many people say it wrong. She gets Lil-a, Layla, Lilly.

Like Lyla, it was my grandmother's middle name (spelt like Lila) so one we considered it for a girl (Lila Grace) , I really don't like the spelling Lyla, I'm normally very conservative with names wanting the most obvious spelling but with Lila although I know it's not the most straight forward spelling of Lyla I think it just makes the name classier.

My OH apparently doesn't like the name so there goes that 😂 he really like Isla for a girl apparently?

Leela. It means pink or purple and is pronounced that way if you speak many European languages

I keep thinking of this thread because DH said I was dumb (jokingly of course) for thinking it was Leela not lie-la, but I got to thinking about the "i" sound in...Lisa, Nina, Mila...then things with the "lie" sound...Skylar, etc have "y" not "i".

It's just in the eye/ear of the reader really, since obviously different people say it differently, no right or wrong!

Don't stress, obviously different people pronounce it different ways. I know what you're saying about the Lisa, Nina etc but I think? (I may be wrong) Lila is a derivative of Delilah?

We're actually not going to use this name now anyway!

Def Lie-la :) but I did wonder lee-la first but one a second glance it was certain it was lie-la

Lovely name :)
