Anaïs?

The French pronunciation is Ah-nah-ees, apparently.
But i thought it was more like Ah-nay. What would you think?

pretty much how you do really! Anais Anais (with the umlauts over the I) is a perfume and I pronounced it A-nay. Or Uh-nay, But if I was speaking French I would pronounce it Uh-Nay-eece.

Lovely name either way!

yes, that's the correct pronunciation in French, like the author Anaïs Nin

My friend has a girl called anais and she pronounces it a-nay

I'd say Ah-nah-ees personally, but Ah-nay is pretty too. :)

It is meant to be pronounced Ah-nah-ees, after Anais Nin. After reading Henry and June, and seeing the film, I wouldn't ever pronounce it Anay, even though years and years ago I thought that's how it was. The perfume is also meant to be pronounced the correct way!! Not Anay.

The 2 dots over the i mean that the correct pronounciation is Ah-nye-ees.

Withouth the two dots it would be Ah-nay.

I'd say Ah-nay, but i think most people in the UK would pronounce it that way, too.
