How you make up bottles....

Just seen this thread.. so can I ...

1) Boil Water
2) Put Formula and Boiling water in Bottle
3) Shake - and refrigerate
4) KEEP for 24 hours?

I'm confused as to why they say bin after 2 hours on the tin?
*argg*

Its only if you have made the milk and left it. Its because bacteria growth is at its highest :)

Indeed. If it's kept in the fridge (not in the fridge door as that's more prone to temp changes) then it's good for 24 hours. It's how I used to prepare my first daughter's bottles

when i used powder (now on cows milk) i used pre make (water and powder in too) all my feeds for the day and at night id use the ready made cartons

I agree, that's why I do it this way...

Boil the water and add to bottles for the whole day. But say I am making a 5oz bottle, I will add only 3 1/2 oz and then top up to 5oz with fresh boiled water when I am ready to add the powder for a feed. Quick, easy and kills the bugs whilst having a warm bottle (great way to do it for babies that don't like room temp bottles). :)

thats what i do:thumbup:

This way works best for us too, hot enough to sterilise powder, but perfect temperature for LO:thumbup:

your supposed to add the formula when the water is still hot.
i make four bottles at night for the next day
i boil fresh water in the kettle, leave it to sit for 25mins.
then add water, formula and shake well.
cool down in cold water and store in the fridge then heat when i need to use
i know your supposed to make them up one at a time when u need one but to be honest i find it unrealistic to do that
hope this helps :)

i make them up but i only make them up for a 12 hour window and store in the fridge. anything over 12 hours i discard which is usually none as i only make 4 and they are top ups to go with bf

I have a sterilized bottle with boiled water in the fridge. I then boil the kettle when I need to make a bottle. I then add half hot, just boiled water and half cold boiled water. So no need to wait for water to cool down and no need to heat-up bottle.

At the moment, I make them fresh as needed because I combi feed so only use 2 bottles of formula a day but if and when my LO is exclusively bottle fed I will make up a couple and store them in the fridge. My HV said it was ok to do this.
