Hi ladies! I posted already in the BFP forum, but I thought I'd tell our story here, too, in case it might give someone hope.
We had a chemical pregnancy very early in our marriage, but then nothing after that. We have now been actively TTC for two years. At first we just BBT'd and tried to time things right. After a while, we went to my gyno and she started me on Clomid. We did that for 3 months, with ultrasounds and trigger shots. Then we tried Femara for 3 months, with ultrasounds and trigger shots. Nada.
She told us we needed to go to a FS, but we weren't ready to hear that, so we got a second opinion (another doctor in the same practice, actually). She said, "First off, you have PCOS. We're going to test your blood sugar. Secondly, has anyone looked at your tubes yet?"
I got Metformin for mild insulin resistance and she did a lap and dye procedure a few months later. She found I had two blocked tubes. At that point, when she recommended a FS, we were ready (I guess we're kinda stubborn!). We went in January.
Our FS is WONDERFUL. I absolutely love her. It's Dr. Millie Behera, if anyone has heard of her. She's been on some daytime talk shows to discuss her work. Apparently, she's one of the best in the country when it comes to tubes. We're so lucky that she is nearby.
Anyway, so we went to her and she did an HSG (hurt like a mother!) and she was able to get one tube open. I got one cycle of "rest" and then she put me on Femara one last time. I had one good follicle on the correct side and did the Ovidrel shot with timed intercourse (so awkward!). Then I started Progesterone as we waited.
To make a long story a little shorter, I took an HPT at 9DPO and got a light positive. But I didn't know if it was me or the Ovidrel, so I couldn't celebrate just yet.
Then, I ended up in the ER for a random thing (Note: a D-Dimer test for blood clots will always come back positive for pregnant ladies!) and they did a Beta which showed my HCG at 23. Still couldn't celebrate quite yet because there was a slim chance it was the shot still.
So, I ended up getting another test at FS a few days later and my HCG went to 80, so I'm definitely pregnant!
Now, we're waiting to hear back about another blood test. I guess having blocked tubes put me at greater risk of an ectopic, so they're watching me to make sure they catch it early if that has happened. We're hopeful!
We've had a lot of little hurdles and a couple big ones, but it has finally happened. We pray that we get to keep this one!!
