Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help?
Is it normal / has anyone had either a HSG or hysteroscopy (or even both) performed after a lap & dye?
I had a lap & dye done 3 months ago - extensive endometriosis found and removed, right ovary was stuck down due to endo, but both ovaries normal and healthy at end of procedure, dye test was fine and notes report uterus is healthy.
Following lap & dye we have been referred to a local Assisted conception unit.
While speaking to the ACU to ensure my referral had finally been accepted (this was a 2 month battle), I asked about what to expect and was told that first I would have to see their gynaecologist who would do a HSG and hysteroscopy and didn't see why a laparoscopy had been done (endometriosis was not expected before the lap, although that is due to not being asked many questions about my periods as having since done a bit of research, I had most of the symptoms).
Having turned to google, from what I can work out a HSG checks the tubes and hysteroscopy checks the uterus. Given that my dye test was fine and the notes from the lap & dye state a healthy uterus - why would I now need either a HSG or hysteroscopy?
So other than NHS red tape and inefficiency - is there any reason for this?
We now know that IUI / IVF is required for us to conceive, as hubby is azoospermic from chemotherapy but has pre-banked sperm. However 10 months post azoospermia was diagnosed and 2 years since we started ttc, we are still no closer to actually getting on the waiting list for either IUI / IVF - arghhhhh!
Sorry for the long post (and rant) and thanks to anyone who has managed to read it all!
