HSG (dye test)- reassuring stories needed!!!

Well l didn't get the option but l had the xray and they used the balloon. They showed me on the screen the dye going into my tubes. It was facinating and a great distraction. Xxx

I've had 3...the 1st one was painless. The 2nd day were painful. It's quick so it's not too bad and totally worth it to know if the tubes are okay. Don't stress too much. :)

i had an xray and a balloon. It was cool to see inside though hehehe!

I had mine yesterday and I still have cramping. It seems like food makes me cramp more. Wait a while before eating afterwards. However, I have a polyp so that could be why mine is cramping for a longer period of time?

Sounds like it could be. Mine stopped straight away. Hope it doesn't bother you too long. :hugs: xxx

Hi everyone,
Just had it done! In my case it was really not bad at all! I'd have it done again today if I had too. A small pinch when she inserted the tube but not even as bad as a blood test pain, then did not feel more than mild cramping while she injected. Looked at the screen and it was cool to see it all. The biggest "pain" is having to were a sanitary towel and being on anti biotics for a few days. I felt more sick worrying about it than anything else! Really it wasn't bad at all! I am more painful smears in the past!
Good luck to all having it done later! Don't believe all the horror stories, it's more likely it will go well! X

Thank to all of you that shared your stories! I hope it will reassure a few others who come accross this thread! :)

Thanks for the reassurance, I have to ring up and book mine over this coming week - if the witch gets me, which I really hope she does not!!! Nice to hear some positive comments about the HSG procedure and not all doom and gloom, thanks! :)

I have mine booked for Friday Sept 9th. Super nervous, but excited at the same time. My and my DH have been trying seriously for the past year. He has always said that he wanted to have a baby before he turned 30. I just want to be able to give him that. Anyways, wrong thread to be getting into my life story. Thank you for started this thread. I googled HSG and kept posponing it due to fear. Appointment is booked for friday and I am just going to do it.

Good luck! Apparently it can clear things a bit and help
You get preggers! All the more a reason not to be afraid!

I had the HyCoSy which is the internal ultrasound one (everyone always gets confused HSG is the x ray HyCoSy ultrasound but basically the same)! Everything was fine until they inflated the balloon inside my uterus to keep the cathetar in place which then gave me cramp pains for about 10 seconds then the rest was fab never felt anything else well apart from them wiggling the ultrasound stick around inside to find my ovaries but didnt hurt and i was fine for the rest of the day I was terrified but i had nothing to worry about i hate all the scare stories x

I'll be booking my HSG for next cycle and I'm very happy to have read this thread as I've read some horrible stories. Still anxious as my Paps are nasty painful but at least I can ingest massive amounts of painkillers beforehand. :D

Fingers crossed it goes ok, i do believe that having a positive attitude will help. I kept thinking that my doctor had said that there was no reason why my tubes would be blocked so it was going to be fine. Taking painkillers definitely made me feel "safer" this said I could not take anything stronger than paracetamol!!
Let us know how it went!

My gynecologist is saying the same thing, that everything should be okay but there's always a nagging feeling!

Keep the positive stories coming ladies, if it helped my worries even a wee bit hopefully it will reassure others.

Hey, just to update you all.... and to give you a 'reassurring story'.... I had my HSG last week.

No problems.... it didn't hurt and I didn't taken anything before hand or after. I had a slight bit of bleeding when everything was removed, but hardly anything at all. The only slight discomfort was when they injected the dye... it was hardly anything and passed quickly. I know some people have described this as a period pain, but to be honest mine was a slightly different feeling.... but it passed within about 2 seconds.

I'd have it done again if I had to.

Anyways best of luck to you all who are waiting for the HSG, please dont' worry. :)
