After reading all kinds of forums before my HSG, because I like everyone else was freaking out...I felt it was only fair for me to post my experience.

I think I read just about anything and everything there was. This may have freaking me out more than anything else. I think I had the average experience. By now, you have probably read enough to know what the whole process entails. I was thankfully able to have my husband in the room with me which I think helped out a lot. He was holding my hand during what I thought was the worst part of it. The insertion of the cathedar felt like a pinch and when they started to blow up the balloon that is when the cramping feeling started. I was doing my best to breath and squeezed my husbands hand as hard as i possibly could. Im not gonna lie, it hurt. BUT, it only lasted maybe 1 minute IF that. I have to say it was probably exactly what I expected after everything that I read though everyone is different. I took 800ml of motrin and I feel it was a waste of time. Maybe it helped with the cramping I wuold have experienced the rest of the day or something I dont know. My dr was GREAT and her assistant even better. They did a great job explaining everything to me beforehand and afterwards. Some people will say they had pain when the dye went in but I had none. It was only when they were blowing up the balloon.

Dont be scared by the needles and stuff on the tray before your procedure. There are no needles that get injected in to you. They are to inject the dye through the cathedar.

I know it seems impossible but try to just breathe through it. I got my results right away and my tubes are clear. Now its baby making time. I was told by my dr that women who get this procedure done are 60% more likely to get pregnant in the following 3 months. So I think we will try on our own for the next 3 months before we start the expensive and overwhelming process of fertility drugs.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I feel its only fair for me to answer them and help as much as I can after all of the reading up I did on these forums!
