Hi girls

I finally had my first fertility appointment. I have to get an infernal ultrasound done and a repeat of my blood tests and an hsg before my n'est appointment.

I am scared of needles and i surfer from extremley painfull périods so im terrifiéd about the pain! I was wondering where exactly does the local anaesthetic go? Is it à needle into ur cervix?

I was good it might take 3 months but when i phones todsy they said maybe 6. I was hoping to get it done during a lap which may happen in the future.

I had an HSG and they didn't use any anaesthetic. There was a little cramping but manageable and the procedure didn't take to long.

Thanks tay i have read How people have been in agony. Would like to know how the anaesthetic is given.

Tink it is where dye is inserted onto ur uterus and fallopeon tubes to see if they are blocked.

Candefloss I had a hsg and it was painless, maybe slightly uncomfy but no worse than an internal ultrasound. I also had really painful periods so I was really worried I would have loads of pain when they did it.

I was given some painkillers to take before (I'm not sure what they were) I think it was ibruprofen maybe.

The HSG worked, I got my BFP the month after the HSG. We had been ttc for nearly 2 years and were just about to try IVF. Thank goodness for that HSG!

Good luck:hugs::flower:

Thank you lovie and what a gorgeous baby!! I have had an internal ultrasound done before and they found adenomyosis so im doubtfull it will work for me but that wud be amazing! Were u told if ur tubes were blondes? Did u get a local?

Firstly don't panic - people always write about horror stories and not about the good experiences. You don't get given anaesthetic for an HSG because it's not necessary. Take a couple of painkillers an hour before you go, more for nerves than anything else. Mine was absolutely fine, no pain at all. There are a lot of people who had good experiences - they outway the people who had bad experiences but you only ever get to read about the bad. I also have pretty bad periods, they've been getting more and more painful but my HSG was fine. Good luck, and don't panic!

Congrats lovie, wish I could say I was lucky too but unfortunately not. Glad the HSG worked for you, H&H 9 months to you!! We should be referred for IVF in July so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that!

They said my tubes were not blocked but I think maybe they were blocked a little and the dye pushed away the blockage, I had no local just the painkillers.

thanks we think he is cute but we are biased:winkwink:

Mine, they gave me no anasthetic. No pain relievers. And I didnt get pregnant after. But the pain wasnt as bad as I thought it would. Nowhere near as bad as my period cramping!

I just had my HSG done today , I cramped alot during the dye going in but it only lasted a minute or two now I am just tender feel like i worked out some hehe . It isn't as bad as some people say it is GL hun :hugs: !

I had mine about an hour ago and feel absoulty fine. It was no worse than a normal period cramp to me and it only lasted a few minutes.

No anesthetic given for a HSG. I've had 3 of them and it really isn't too bad. Take a few ibuprofen an hour or so before the procedure and you'll be fine!

I had an HSG done this week, I took tylenol before had and they didn't give me anaesthetic.

I am one of the people who found this process very very painful! On the positive side, it lasted for about a minute. I got a little cramping for about 5 minutes after it was done, after that I felt totally normal.

Just remember, it's over very quick so even if it hurts it won't be very long at all.
