Ok so I'm back and this time with some hopeful news.... After nearly 2 and a half years of trying to conceive with no success my doctors have finally agreed to start the process in helping me with conception..:happydance: They already taken blood to test my progesterone levels, and I am scheduled to have an HSG on the Monday the 13th.. I'm both scared and nervous but more happy to get the ball rolling so I can finally get my BFP.. Now my question is has anyone had a successful pregnancy after having this procedure done?

I have been surfing the web more than I should. I've already scared the CRAP out of myself with all of the things iv'e read So pretty PLEASE no horror stories..
But I would honestly like to hear you all's experiences..

Thanks:flower:

Hi :) I had my first fertility clinic appointment today.

I've already had blood tests and an ultrasound through my family doctor.

They were really nice. As soon as I have my next period, I'm having an HSG as well.

But I am under the impression that an HSG is a diagnostic, not a treatment? To see if you have blocked tubes...

I am not looking forward to it! They pre-prescribed pain medication and antibiotics, that can't be a good sign, lol.

Good luck!

I had a hsg last month. It was a bit uncomfortable when they put in the catheter but other then that it was fine. I want prescribed any pain killers or antibiotics either. Mine was all clear and dr gave me results there and then.
Apparently it will only hurt if you have a blockage, that's what I have heard anyways. Also it can make you more fertile as it does help clear the path abit. Im in my tww at moment so will see if that turns out to be true.
We were also told not to try the month we had the hsg as the due can cause problems.
Good luck and don't stress yourself to much!

I had an HSG last month and as was previoulsy said, it was more uncomfortable than painful, however I do suggest taking pain killer prior as I had horrible cramping about 20min-2hrs after it was done...

I had mines in July, wasn't painful at all, although I did take 2 ibuprofen & 2 paracetamol before it. Was a bit uncomfortable & I bled & cramped for about 3 days.
Not pregnant yet after 2nd cycle, but mines showed one blocked tube so that's probably why.

You'll be fine, try not to worry xx

its a little uncomfortable.. not painful... they gave me an injection half an hour prior to the procedure.. had light cramps for about 15 mins post that..and the procedure itself takes abt 10 mins. i conceived immediately the next month although it led to an ectopic.:(
it does make u more fertile as the dye they use clears the path and it increases chances of pregnancy...
the youtube videos and internet just make it look scary..
do not read and just go for it..
all the best.. let us know how it goes...
