I had a ligation reversal on June 23rd of this year. A few months later we found out my husband has an extremely low sperm count, so we decided to see if donor sperm was an option with an HSG, to make sure my tubes are clear.
I had the HSG yesterday. It was confusing. The dye went through the uterus (which looked fine) and a few moments later I saw it go down and spill through the left tube, then the right. On the left side I saw some "wispy" dark stuff come out the end and the radiologist said "you can see the dye starting to come out of the left tube now" and I was relieved. There was a very small amount of the "wispy" dark stuff on the right sight but it wasn't very notable and the radiologist didn't say anythng about. Very shortly after that the dye was no longer in the tubes on both sides, just the "wispy stuff" at the ends. The dye never went back in the tubes, he kept pushing more in but it never went back up the tubes. He had me roll on my sides and it didn't help.
Then he left the room and came back and said it looked like both my tubes were blocked at the end. Devastated... but confused... as he had said that he could see the dye coming out the end of my left tube. I was too crushed to ask anymore questions. So I did some research online later and apparently sometimes the tubes "spasm" during the procedure, cutting off the dye, I wonder if that's what happened after the first initial flow of dye, and that's why there was barely any spillage? I'm also confused because, it was a short notice appointment and when I booked it the lady said well this radiologist doesn't normally do these but he's done them before, so is he erring on the side of caution and saying they're blocked?
I'm really hurt and sad and confused and devastated. Does anyone know anything about a possible spasm, or why the tube would appear to fill and spill a little, then both of them stopped filling? Anyone have any idea what happened? Thanks in advance for your help!
