Well the time has finally come.......last time I had an appointment for an HSG i chickened out and ended up having a 62 day cycle.
well today I shall not chicken out, but I am soooooo afraid, funny enough i am not afraid of the pain I might experience, im afraid of what I might find out. Ever the pessimist, I get the certain feeling that today i will find out how messed up my tubes are.
*sigh*

Good luck with your HSG today, be strong....its a step forward on achieving your long awaited dream of being a mum!!! Let us know how you go :hugs:

hi...try not to worry, at least u will find out the results immediately & not have to wait 4 them. I too was was more worried bout the results than the actual procedure ( had mine 2 weeks ago).....luckily 4 me it was good news, i was just so petrified as i only have the 1 tube so if it was messed up it would of been the end of the rd 4 us i think! The procedure itself only took 5-10 mins & was fine....just a weird slight cramp when the catheter went through the cervix but didnt feel dye go through tube....is anyone going with u? my DH watched the screen & saw the dye going through. good luck & dont worry.....oh make sure u wear knickers & not thong as they will ask you to put a pantyliner in your knickers after as you may spot a little after xxx

Thank you so much Dancingkaty and lioness, i will try to be strong. Im going at it alone, dh is too busy.....*sigh*

Try not to worry, like the othere ladies said, at least you will know straight away, which will then put your mind at rest and you wont have to just 'presume' what may OR may not be wrong!!!! I was lucky mine were clear and I hope yours are too. GOOD LUCK.......it will all be worth it in the end!!!!

Awww hun, try not to worry. I know I was scared of finding out what was going on inside of me with my tubes, but it is better to know. So you can get a positive answer, maybe flush out your tubes and you may fall pregnant (some cases women fall with in 3mths of having a HSG), or you find out something not so pleasing, but with that news you and your hubby and plan for your next journey towards your BFP.

Hun, stay positive :hugs::hugs:

Good luck hun, Like the other girls have said it is another step to your dream of being a Mum. I had a HSG earlier in the year and it wasn't as bad as I thought and didnt really hurt more a little uncomfortable. Worst bit for me was the speculum being put into place, I hate that. The rest of it didn't hurt at all. Take a couple of pain killers before you leave and you will be fine. The secret is to try and relax as much as possible (I know it's hard when you have a lamp shining up you with several hospital staff looking at your bits :haha:) It will be over in no time at all and the results should be discussed with you. With any luck your tubes will be clear and a good flush out was all you need. I fell pregnant on cycle 3 after my HSG so you might get lucky in that respect. Sadly I lost my bean though. Back on the LTTC road again now.

I also went on my own, but on a plus side at least you dont have to go through all the small talk with your other half whilst you wait. I just sat in silence waiting to get it over with.

:hugs: x

Good Luck hun I know its hard but trust me it is better to know whatever is going on so you can do whatever needs to be done.

Just checking in to see how your HSG went today....... hope your ok :hugs:

hi everybody, so yes i did go through with it and here's how it went:
I got to the hospital and my doctor gave me a shot of painkillers 15 minutes before the procedure and when we began the procedure she put in the speculum and then the catheter or what ever it is that they use to inject the dye, then guess what, it came right back out again, she tried a second time and then the verdict was that my cervix was too open so the dye kept rushing back, so we should either try it in a week, or we can try it next month when its 4 days after my period. and so I got dressed and was given some progestrone pills (i suffer from low progesterone) and that was that. the only painful part was when i was getting he injection for the pain killers before the procedure, otherwise the procedure itself was just uncomfortable. I dont know why my cervix was to open for an hsg, i have tried to google and cant get anything. has anyone heard anything like this?

sorry that it didnt go to plan yesterday what a bummer!!!! the good news is that u must feel so much more relaxed about when you have it done next time as you now know its nothing to worry about & doesnt hurt :).....i may just be thick but id say its a good thing ur cervix being open a bit...gives the spermies better chance of getting in i would of thought!!! but no, seriously i am not sure why this would of happened....what day of your cycle are u on? maybe you are too near your date of ovulation as the cervix would be more open then wouldnt it???? sorry i cant be more help....xxx

thanks dancingkaty, am okay since th doctor didnt say anything about it but me and dh did baby dance the day before the hsg. could this be the reason for an open cervix?

Ah sorry to hear that!!! I know the feeling, I went for my first 1 and was so nervous got on the bed put the speclam in and couldnt do the rest as I was bleeding too heavy so I had to go back the next week, I was gutted!!!! However, hang on in there it will be done and you will have your answers soon!!!! Stay strong xxx

Cervix being open is a fertility sign and can mean you are fertile right now. Other than that I don't know. Where are you at in your cycle?
