Hi Girls i had my HSG on Friday which unfortunately for me was very painful. I read somewhere that if it is painful it could be due to minor blockages in the tubes as the dye is pushing through  Do you think this is the case?

The good news is all the dye came through and everything looks normal. I just wonder if this has been part of my problem for the last year and maybe now i have had a clear out i may be successful in the coming months.

I think i may be clutching at straws but hey :haha:

Hi,

My HSG was also excruciatingly painful, I was just about to beg them to stop when thank goodness it finished anyway! I think all that 'take a paracetamol first' malarkey is just to soften people up! It did cross my mind though that the pain was probably minor compared to childbirth but then didn't want to think about that too much!

I understand the pain is from the cramping around the balloon they blow up in your cervix. this makes sense to me as the pain stopped the instant they released the balloon. Also, my follow up appointment with the FS also confirmed that there were no blockages.

My FS did say that couples sometimes conceive after the HSG because it does clear the tubes of any little bits of debris. It wasn't the case for us but I guess it can happen so *fingers crossed* for you!

When i had my HSG we were told that there would be cramping but similar to period pain which it was.

They also told me that if i had any blockages/debris in my tubes then this would cause more discomfort. We were advised to :sex: when i next ovulated which was only 2 days after as if the blockages were causing any issues, now was the time to go for it since they were gone!

So if the HSG has blown the cobwebs away for you, i hope the BFP is just around the corner!

hi sorry to but in but thought id share my story. of course its different for everyone.
My HSG test was painfull ...the dye went through my left tube and spilled out fine but my right tube it came in through the tube but didnt spill out..indicating a small blockage in right tube. i had bad pains for several days after and bleeding for 10days after!!
as you can see i got pregnant.. the cycle after!!!! after 10+years NTNP ..4 cycles of ttc..undergoing fertility tests with very poor sperm..we did it!!!!!!! i put it down to the HSG test as least helping if not clearing something in my left tube as my right tube is still blocked! i know this isnt always how it goes but i was lucky..i hope you have the same success!!! Fx xx

I had my HSG in 2004. I remember I took alot of Tums. I had stomach cramping due to the gas this procedure causes. It sounds like your tubes are open...time for you to get busy...BD time

Thanks girls! I had cramping for about 4 days after but i did BD cause i knew i would be OV and didnt want to miss a chance especially if i had clear tubes :haha:

I hope that my BFP is just round the corner. Good luck to all you ladies :flower:
