Could it be possible that your baby is confused by how he is meant to be feeding? If he has been taken from the bottle to now breastfeeding but yet you then give him a bottle it'll confuse him as he now relates a feed to the breast.
I would say the expressing into a bottle thing is for times when you can't feed or for a night out maybe, I wouldn't say its something to do on a daily basis but i dont know im only trying to think of things.

I bf my son til he was 11mths & he just would not take to the bottle to feed so i struggled to let ppl take him & have a night out or break, After that i wouldn't put him in that situ again where he was so hungry as he obv didnt want the bottle.

HI hun just a tip for your oh if this happens again. This will sound realy strange but tell him to hold the bottle under his arm, inbetween his arm and his chest and to have bare arms. This mimics the position as if he was being b/f and he still gets the feel of skin on his face.
