Does anyone else find that with this kind of formula their baby 'struggles' to poo? Kane really strains to poo lately, since we went on the SMA hungrier baby formula so much so he cries and I can hear hes stomach making all kinds of noises

We are going food shopping today so I'm going back to the normal SMA. Just wondering if anyone else finds this with any other hungrier baby formula?

yea i put sophia on the SMA hungrier baby formula at about 6-8 weeks i think??,,but it didnt agree with her, and my health visitor said its ok aslong as her stools dont change, which they did, so we went back to the normal one and tried her again on it a coouple of months later and she was fine on it then :). x

I think 3 weeks old is a bit early for HBM. It's definitely harder to digest. I think you're doing the right thing going back to the first stage milk. Remember that a 3 week old will need to feed really regularly anyway, it's not a sign they need HBM. They'll last longer between feeds as their stomach gets bigger! This was def the case with my LO (although we went onto HBM at 4m)

Thanks both, last time I listen to family members from both sides :dohh:

Yeah his stools have changed, hopefully him going back on the normal SMA wont make him so restless and will settle him. x

These things you just have to try out I think. It's confusing that the pack says 'from birth', when in reality I don't think many newborns would digest it easily :(

My HV said not to feed my baby boy (4weeks old) with HBM as he'll need it when he's a bit older but to small for any solid food, she said to try when he's about 3months old or so..

How did you know when to put her onto hungrier baby milk? My LO is nearly 3 months, and he's not going very long between feeds anymore. Used to be 3hours, now i'm lucky to get 2 1/2 hours! And he's waking more in the night:coffee: I dont' want to put him on the next milk if it gives him a bad stomach though

I tried my LO on hungry baby milk at about 3 weeks and he was really constipated so we stopped using it and he was fine,we did start giving it to LO when he was about 7 weeks though as he really did need it and he was ok on it then.
maybe its a little early for your LO xx

My 2nd son was a big baby and basically thought every time he opened his eyes he had to be fed! He was going through normal baby milk like nobodies business and being fed constantly. We put him on hungry baby milk at about 3 weeks (health visitor said not to as if it didnt work we would have no other option available to us?!?!) but we did it anyway and it worked a treat and he started going 3 -4 hours between feeds (slept right through the night from 6 weeks old) and as for the poo i just gave him extra cooled boiled water during the day to make sure he cud open his bowels fine.
