Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone else has found that hungry baby milk doesn't really make much difference? Ethan normally has a feed of normal Aptimil milk every 3 hours ish. We give him one feed of Aptamil Hungry Baby milk at midnight ish to try and make him sleep through the rest of the night a bit better (he goes from 8 to 12 or 1ish straight through, no problems), but he still wakes up every 3 hours or so, even after hungry baby milk. Am I expecting too much to expect him to go longer than 3 hours? I didn't think it would be too much of a problem because sometimes in the day he goes 3.5 or even 4 hours. The hungry baby milk doesn't appear to keep him fuller for longer at all. I am happy that he goes to sleep at 8 ish but does anyone have any tips for how we can get him to sleep through for the second part of the night?

Also, when he woke at 4am this morning and started grumbling I fed him but he only had a couple of oz before going back to sleep, so I don't think he was actually that hungry. I was wondering about putting him in his own room from tonight because when my parents looked after him he was in their spare room and he slept from 8.30 - 3.30 and then 4.00 - 8.00. I wonder if, because he is in a separate room, they didn't hear him grumbling and perhaps he put himself back to sleep until he was properly hungry. Any thoughts?

thanks :flower:

Hi!
Hannah was very same I fed her around every 2 hours so changed to aptamil hungry. It made no difference what so ever. Was using it for about 2 weeks and she just wasnt happy on it. So my HV said to put her back on stage 1 and just up her feeds. And I found during the day most times she wasnt hungry just tired so had to sort out her naps. Now she goes 4 hours between every feed (6oz) and sleeps from 8.30pm-8am :happydance: HV said stage 2 can be too heavy on their lil tummy but changing Hannah back to stage 1 did wonders.
Dont know if it is any help to you.
Take care x

Thanks I think we may give up with the HB stuff. He sleeps really well in the day - he's usually awake for about 1.5 hours maybe 2 then he has a 30/45 min nap or so. I've tried keeping him awake more in the day so he sleeps at night but it doesn't work he just cries and falls asleep anyway, so I stopped fighting it and just enjoyed the quiet in the day lol :)

I don't THINK it makes much of a difference to Ruby. I started is cos i thought she was hungry every 2 hrs but it turned out she was just tired. I carried on with the HB milk though as she was happy!

Just my opinion but I really think the problem here is that his naps are too short. If you can get him to take 1 1/2 to 2 hour naps maybe 3 times a day he will go for longer periods in the night. Also keeping them up later doesn't work as when they're overtired they won't sleep for very long.

I would carry on feeding every 3 hours during the day. It doesn't sound like he's hungry in the night, sounds like habit, I would try and settle him back to sleep if he wakes.

I do agree with clare. His naps seem too short, hannah was the same. So instead of givin her a bottle when she woke I tried to get her back to sleep. Have to say there was alot of crying at first but it did get better and she does sleep better now. once i got her naps durin the day sorted she started sleeping straight through.

I put Maisie on it for a week and it made no difference in the slightest so ive changed her back to stage 1 now.

thanks everyone - looks like i need to try and get him back to sleep somehow during the day then. :)

i must be the only one it seems to of helped but his on a mix of one and 2 and has 7-8oz bottles lol but he only naps for a little but sleeps 10pm-8/9am
