hungry baby

Charlie is feeding constantly.....6oz every 2 hours sometimes. Before he goes to bed he has 11oz and he is already on cow and gate hungry baby. i don;t know what else to do? he is satisfied and settles easy with every feed but then 2 hours later is screaming for more. My mum has joked i should put him on porridge!!
anyone else had this? he is only 6 weeks old - but was 3 weeks early? do you think it is possble he is just playing catch up and this will calm down! He will be weaned by 3 months at this rate. x

Thats quite alot :S Have you spoken to your HV about it? Ive heard of people putting baby rice in the milk but see what the HV says, it may well be to do with being born early.

My LO has one bottle at night and is currently on 8oz of hungry baby SMA. He will last 5 hours on that - 4 hours thereafter on breast milk.

I wouldn't give a young baby any solids, def not in a bottle as it's a choking hazard.

Is your LO breastfed or bottle fed? If bottle feeding-i'd try the hungry baby milk (worked great for elliot, he was a hungry baby too). Too much milk ends up making them sick as their tummys can't handle so much in one go.

wow greeedy lol i'd ask HV about it lilly went through a growth spurt at around 5 weeks and was drinking upto 8oz and she was getting big took her HV and she said try cooled boiled water instead so took her down to 5oz now she's on 4oz every 3/4 hours and doing great.

I spoke to hv yesterday and she just said that he is clearly just a hungry baby.

Im going through the same just now with Jessica, she is taking 6oz every couple of hours at most, spoke to hv too and she just said because she is sleeping right through from 10pm-6am that its ok, is Charlie sleeping through? I asked about going on hungry baby milk and was told just to wait and see as it should calm down and not to jump onto hungry milk incase it is a growth spurt! Kx

if you dont make it to 6 months hun dont worry!! i spoke to my midwife about it the other week, she said she's heard of babies making it to 5 months, but hardly any make it to 6!!

i weaned katie at 11 weeks, just a bit of baby rice. i told HV and she said she did it with hers and they're fine! its just they dont recommend it now!! katie was a hungry baby, she was BF and was feeding about every 90 mins for about 30 mins!!

i always swore by the hungry baby formula, but could he be going through a growth spurt? also i would try and offer some cooled boiled water too as this may help! no what you mean about making it till 6months with weaning, i was in utter shock when we did with maddi! i think its about weaning when they are ready, i always thought maddi was going to be weaned much earlier! x x

same here, jayden was on that at your lo's age. hes now on 8oz of hungry baby milk every 3-4 hours. and polishes off everything in the bottle! trouble is..the dr brown bottles i'm using can only hold 8oz! x

thanks guys. I have tried giving him water...but he spits it out and gives me the dirtiest look ever!! then starts screaming again until he gets his bottle of milk!! Today has been crazy....he has fed every 1 hour and has polished off about 6oz with each one. i just don't know what to do with him. He is in bed now and am hoping he sleeps. He normally goes from 7pm to about 3ish but then is awake again by 6.30 and then it all starts. He becomes bonkers.
