I'll feel really hungry, but when I try to eat, I have a few bites and suddenly I'm stuffed. Anyone else feeling the same way?

It's a really weird feeling since I generally had a very good appetite until a couple of days ago.

I've felt like this for a long time -I mean you wouldn't think at 13-14 weeks baby would be squishing my tummy but I literally felt I'd barf if I finished a meal. I just graze, I have my meals and put it aside 1/2 way through and finish in 3/4 hour to hour once the first portion of my food has gone down. I also try to snack between meals on veggies, nuts, fruit or greek high protein yoghurt. At work I keep carrots & sugar snap peas next to my desk. I'm definitely under what a person should be at my stage of pregnancy but I'm not fussed about it because I eat really healthy (as long as you have enough clean protein for baby's growth and veggies for nutrients) and take folic acid, B multi, and iron you & baby will be ok!

I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant and have been feeling this way for a long time now. I never had any physical or emotional pregnancy symptoms and I don't feel nausea but I could be very hungry and then when I start eating my appetite is gone. It sucks but despite not eating much at all for like 2 months my princess is growing right as she should, measuring exactly to the date and is in the 45th percentile. Myself and her father are quite slender as is most of our family moments so I think she will be fine. My doctor said this is likely a pregnancy symptom even though I don't feel sick. But he is not worried at all because the baby is fine ;)

@2have4kids Grazing sounds like something I will have to do. I'll have to prep some snacks for work.

@brokenoven I hope my lack of appetite doesn't last all the way to week 24 and beyond :( I love eating. But yes, the most important thing is that the baby is healthy. Fingers crossed that mine is growing well too.

DH was talking about this the other day, I've really struggled throughout this pregnancy with not being able to eat much, I'd snack little and often to try keep your calories up, maybe try a smoothie to see if thats any better.

Same here! Feel hungry but full after a few mouth fulls xx

I'm exactly the same and was the same when I was pregnant with my ds. It seems to be the moment I start showing I can only manage a few mouthfuls of food and then I'm stuffed. I lost two stone during my last pregnancy because of it x

I feel this exact same way. I guess I'm not too worried about it though because I know my body knows what it needs right now and it'll do what's best for baby.

It makes me feel a lot better that I'm not the only one. DH, who is on a constant mission to feed me, is convinced I am making it up because according to his 'knowledge' of pregnancies, the woman eats for two! Lol

I've been trying to eat smaller meals today. I might try monitoring my calories just to make sure I'm eating enough. I'm a little worried that baby isn't getting enough nutrients and comes out a shorty like me. :p

The only things really worth worrying about are iron, folic acid and B vitamins. Deficiencies in these are each linked to serious issues with baby. Folic acid most important in first tri, iron & B multis in second & third. They're studying links to autism with B Vit shortages in pregnancy right now - no links yet just surprising correlations (not causation all yet). Iron deficiency has been linked to learning disabilities & ADD/ADHD, lack of folic acid is commonly known to cause neural tube issues. You'd have to eat 30 plates of spinach each day to get the iron that a pregnant woman needs. Iron is hard to absorb, liquid iron is easiest on tummy and in fruit juice /no milk/dairy.

This is me too. Then half an hour later I'm hungry again

so much yes to this post! My dh is also trying to feed me, and always shooting me a look when I put down the fork. He's getting used to it now though, and doesn't push. I am on the "chocolate milk diet" it's gotten me through most days. I also due the vitamins and liquid iron as well in juice, I was doing it in water but surprise it taste like drinking metal, so juice is better. I haven't gained any weight since week 6, but haven't lost any either at week 14. Baby looks fine and healthy and I am feeling fine mostly

This had been me too.. The 24/7 nausea stooped around 14 weeks... but I still have had major aversions.. only now about 19 weeks am I able to eat more. Up until now I have been forcing food in a few times a day.... I am definitely looking forward to enjoying food again!!

My nutritionist said this is very normal. Uterus is stretching and pushing on your stomach and restricting movement. Very normal to still be hungry, but not able to eat. Small meals and snacks.
