Hello,
I don't have insurance and they say I have a missed miscarriage. I have no idea how much the ER visit will be, but now I have to go to surgery called DNC??? I was going to go to a clinic but because I am not a patient and have no insurance they won't see me. My insurance kicks in on September 1,2008 can I wait until then to get the surgery?? or will I die between now and then. I am so depressed, it's like I don't even care anymore.

Im not sure maybe if you explain to them about your insurrance coming in september maybe they can still do it and wait for your insurrance? Im not to sure...I didnt want to read and run...hope everything works out for you!

So sorry for your loss. I was in a similar situation in mid June waiting for insurance and facing a D&C. Your signature doesn't say where you're from... here in the US they can postdate your surgery so that you don't get billed for it until your insurance picks up in sept. You could ask the doc about this. But insurance here also has a way of not paying for things that are "a pre existing condition", so it may not work this way either.
I think your next best bet is to ask the nurse or doc if there are any grants or programs that will help you pay for this surgery. Here in my hometown they have a program called 'community care', which is a grant program. You have to apply and wait about a month to know if you've been accepted. Obviously, you'll get bills in that time frame but if they do accept you then it'll be worth the wait. Then lastly, you could always set up payment plan or credit plan with the hospital you go to.
I hope this helps you a little. Don't forget to take care. Lots of :hugs:

a D+c is to remove the tissue thats left inside, you can pass this naturally but it can be dangerous if it is left i dont know about insurance etc as im from the uk but i think its better you get something in place sooner rather than later.

massive hugs and im so so sorry for your loss

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss.

So sorry to hear your sad news!

I'm in the UK so cannot advise on the health care in the US... sorry...but just wanted to say that I sincerely hope you manage to get the care you need asap without difficulty!

 x

Bloody hell. I know I moan about our medical system in the uk..... but at least we would be able to have the surgery we need!!! Didn't want to read and run, but I'm afraid my knowledge of insurance and medical care is none existent!

Your situation sounds really horrible for you. You don't mention how far along you were before your baby sadly died. I mention this as if you were under 8 weeks, you may still m/c naturally anyway whilst you are sorting out when to have a D and C. There is also a /medical management' route available (where a natual m/c is brought on through pessaries and tablets) - not sure if this is an option for you as again it is dependant on information such as how many weeks you were) ... would this be a more financially managable option? But, I do know D and C's are recommended in certain cases, like in my own.

Wishing you wel, hopefully some other peeps will be along to offer some sound advice.

Im with Freya on this one, we complain about our medical system but we know we can walk into a hospital and have this treatment free of charge! The system in the US is frightening it really is!

Sweetie I hope you get this sorted asap, im not surprised your so scared, but the community care that superp spoke of sounds like its a good option! Please be sure to keep us updated on your progress!

And im so sorry for your loss :hugs:
