I need normal advice please

I havent had af since my ERPC on 24th March, the earliest possible day my af could arrive would have been yesterday, but i started testing with opks 11 days after my ERPC, and i have now had 19 days of positive opks, mostly pretty faint, but positive

19 days??? thats not right is it?

The OPKs aren't really positive unless they are as dark as the control line, but if they are picking up something, it could be HCG that isn't all out of your system yet. The OPKs will pick up both LH and HCG, so they are tricky after MC. I had my MC on March 6th, and I'm still waiting for AF. I finally gave up on trying to use OPKs to tell what was going on, because as of last week there was still some HCG in my system (confirmed by blood tests) so they were still coming up positive.

Thanks H, I had tried a few HPTs and they were negative from day 7, so if theres anything there its LH, but i hadnt read the instructions (durr) so didnt know about the line having to be darker

bugger, just read instructions and they are defo positive, it says a faint line = weak positive. It says if the line is equally dark or darker then its positive and surging, but then theres a diagram showing a weak positive, ie when ovulation wont happen within 24-36 hours

so, i have defo had 19 days of LH, but not full on surging. if anyone can tell me whats going on id be really grateful

That's no fun at all! My OPKs were still positive because of the HCG. The HPTs I did were also positive. At least your HCG has gone down. I read somewhere that the cycle won't start up again until it's all gone, so I think I might be in for a long wait. I hope your system straightens itself out soon!

your lh hormone can be very unpredictable post mc - I wouldn't worry about it for the 1st couple of cycles - if you were still getting strange results in a couple of months time then a wee trip the the gp and they could check your levels.

Thanks Heather, yes i think the hcg went pretty quickly as I had a mmc and my symptoms had started going down already - sorry youre still waiting around, its so frustrating just sat around, weeing into pots and waiting for hormones to get their acts together. How long have you been waiting now? Its 29 days since my erpc, i think im gonna have another few weeks yet before af gets her arse into gear

thanks hb - i have read not to test the first cycle but i cant stop myself. I am armed with a stick and im gonna use it.

what i think is happening is my body is trying to ovulate and failing, so keeps producing lh....which was an explanation that satisfied me about 10 days ago, but i wish it would just forget about trying to ov this month and get to af. Im getting very impatient with my endocrine system.

It's been 46 days for me waiting for AF. In a couple of weeks I am going to have to see a specialist before we try again, so it's actually not too much of a hurry right now. Haha I might actually get upset if AF came right now and I ended up ovulating before my specialist appointment and had to wait another whole month for BD time to come around again!

ach, thats no good is it, but see your point about timing, hopefully af will behave herself and wait until someone tells it what to do.

i hope they get it sorted out for you

Hi Nato, I'm not sure you have to worry. We have LH in our system at all times, so a faint positive is definitely something normal. What would be worrisome is if you had a line that was as dark or darker than the control line for 19 days. That would mean you were having an LH surge that entire time. Sounds to me like you just have enough LH in your system right now that it is registering. Have you noticed a darker line at all? I know when I ovulate, I have a "fade in" pattern where I will get the faint line for many days and then will get the dark line that tells me I'm having a surge. Then it may go to faint for a few more days and then disappear.

I've found this website to be helpful https://www.peeonastick.com/opkfaq.html

Questions number 3 & 6 address your concerns.

Hang in there, your body is just trying to regulate itself again. It will, I promise!
