I am hungry, and know I need to eat for the baby, and my husband is constantly encouraging me to do so for the baby as well, but I NEVER feel like eating! Even if my stomach is grumbling and I have a hunger headache.

I will still eat, whether out of habit or because I know I should, but nothing sounds palatable, and even when I do eat things they taste bland and boring, or even BAD even if I used to like them before. I get cravings for sugary and/or fatty things that have absolutely no nutritional value, but when I get them and eat them I just feel blah about it. Like I did nothing for my baby and just gained calories I don't need, so super guilt.

Right now I just ate a small handful of trail mix, simply to avoid a hunger headache, but I felt like gagging the whole time. I'm not nauseous at all, that has all passed, I just have no interest in actually eating :(.

Jsyk, I drink water and take my vitamins still (with food, whether I like it or not).

Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice right now would be fabulous :(

Since day 1 i have been off my food, im 22 weeks now and nothing has changed. I have had no cravings at all just aversions. i get hungry but nothing ever looks appealing. some days everything i eat will have a soil taste, or be bland and not taste of anything. i have become more aware of textures cant eat mash anymore or anything slightly soggy. bread smells horrible. Anything sweet turns my stomach...yep even chocolate. im living on salad and fruit. ive lost 20lbs so far

Wow, I wish I were LOSING weight! Probably gave into too many of those unfulfilling doughnut cravings :(. Kudos to you being able to do the fruit and veggies. At least baby is getting some nutrients that way.

I had really strong cravings for beef and tomatoes at one point, but the cravings have subsided. Once I finally start eating something and it tastes halfway decent I feel like I can't get enough, and then I feel sick afterward. I don't overeat very often, but my stomach just feels like it has a brick in it or something. It's not nausea.. just a "I don't want to work" feeling from my stomach.

this was exactly me, nothing tasted good and anything sweet made me throw up (yes even chocolate :haha:), until last week, I think I was 23+1 when it started to change and now I am getting cravings like crazy, tacos, cheesecake, hamburgers, pickles (anyone see a pattern). I lost 18.5 pounds in my first 21 weeks, I have since gained back 1 pound. even though I have started getting cravings I try to appease them in moderation (I still make sure I have fruit, veg and calcium everyday) but then Dinner is my craving appeasing time lol.

After reading your other post, I think maybe your problem is not pregnancy related. You sound depressed (understandably so!) and whenever I feel depressed, or low, I lose my appetite. Nothing sounds good, and I take no interest in the food I eat. I hope you find a solution to your problems and start feeling better. :hugs:

I actually disagree with the post above.

OP's symptoms sound very pregnancy related. I'm going through it now and I went through it with DS1.

Food adversions, crazy hunger pangs and with DS1 - the inability to keep food down.... welcome to pregnancy!

Don't stress too much about your baby. With DS1 I lost a loads of weight as I could not keep food down. Dr said to not worry. Baby just takes what it needs and the mum body is the one which deals with any dificiencies.

I'm afraid I have no advice. I spent first trimester just eating corn flakes. Even the taste of water was gross to me. But things will get back to normal eventually.

I only wanted to share what my own experience with this was, and recognized that she might be feeling depressed, too (if you read her other thread, I think you'd see why). Obviously only she knows where the food aversion is stemming from. :flower:

You all may be right... though it's probably EVERYTHING, really. Pregnant + depressed = no food. Makes sense. At least THIS riddle is solved, LOL :p

Don't know what to see. I felt the same way throughout my whole pregnancy with my first. I didn't want to eat, I just wanted to sleep, but I knew I needed to. I'd end up forcing myself to eat bananas in the morning, then go back to bed.

My advice is to just eat light, good stuff like fruit and veggies.
