So i was waiting in a long line outside today and i started feeling lightheaded. I didn't want to hold up my boyfriend and his friends or seem like i was being over dramatic, so i decided to stay standing and wait till i was out of the line.

Next thing i know, i'm on the ground and paramedics are coming over. The weird thing is, i don't think my eyes closed. They were open, i just was unconscious.

The paramedics told me my blood pressure was a little low and so was my blood sugar. They said i could go to the hospital if i wanted but they thought i was fine enough to go ahead on. The just told me to make sure i ate something and got some fluids.

That was one of the scariest moments of my life. I don't know if i should call the doctor and let them know. I have been getting frequently lightheaded when i stand too long. I don't know if this is normal in pregnancy or not.

OMG, you poor thing! xoxo I haven't been going out much, so I can lay down when I need to, but today I went out with my husband.... There were many times I had to sit down smack dab where I was and I did. Please make sure you sit when you feel it coming on! I think you should tell your doctor, I think it's important that they have an accurate file on you and know what's going on. Drink as much as you can- are you throwing up a lot?
LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU!

My understanding (and according to my baby books) is that its quite normal, though not usually as dramatic as that.
From my book "A week into your pregnancy, after the fertilized egg has implanted in your uterus, your entire circulatory system increases its capacity, as if you traded your garden sprinkler for a fireman's hose. Your body spends the first trimester working to fill the extra room in your blood vessels. Your circulatory system gives priority to providing blood to your devloping placenta, nourishing the baby, and removing waste that would interfere with growth.
It says that dizziness is a direct cause of this process. You should be getting better though in the 2nd trimester.
Were you possibly dehydrated at all? Or standing for a very long time?
But definitely tell your doctor!!
Falling can result in head injuries etc so you should try to pay attention and listen to your body and sit down etc... come up with a signal for your husband so he knows you're close to fainting.

I almost fainted in a meeting last week. I am about 7 weeks and I just started to notice last week that I've been getting dizzy spells when I stand up too fast or sometimes feel lightheaded. I called my MW and she told me that I need to make sure I am eating regularly throughout the day to keep my blood sugar up. I've been trying the 6 small meals a day for a couple of days now and this seems to be helping my nausea too. She also told me not to worry right now about eating the "right foods" and focus on getting in enough fluids (which I've not been great about due to nausea). She recommended Coke of all things.. She said it will keep your blood sugar up and keep you at least a little hydrated. She also recommended broth based soups that typically contain a fair amount of sodium such as chicken noodle. I had some Won Ton soup last night and felt great. For me, the combo of making sure I eat enough, sugar and salt seem to do the trick.

This happened to me at 8 weeks while I was at work, although I hadn't been feeling well all day.
I work in retail and was serving a customer at the time, I don't really remember much of what happened. I just remember an overwhelming feeling of wanted to be sick and I just put my head in my hands on the counter and then went down.
Luckily the customer raised the alarm, and my team leader came to my rescue. I have to say though that was a very scary time and it hasn't happened since.
My issue that caused the fainting was lack of food, not eating little and often.

You need to mention it to your doctor i had this with my youngest and it was gestational diabetes! so very important he may want you to monitor your blood sugar:hugs:

Thank you Rainbow Gift :)

I've actually only threw up twice since finding out. Other than that, no ms. Just feeling faint if i stand too long, but i usually sit down. This was just one of those awkward times, i didn't want to sit on the ground in the middle of the line but it came on so fast. It went from about 2 to 10 in 5 seconds!

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww hugs n hugs. Am sure, like others have said, its normal. I remember my mum fainting a few times with one of my brothers. Go see your MW or Doc for reassurance but am sure its all ok.

Yes, i think i was dehydrated and hungrey. I think i also overworked myself. We walked a mile to get there beforehand and all i had was a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a glass of orange juice.

I've talked with OH and let him know that he needs to be more sensitive and realize I'm not doing it for attention when i tell him i feel faint. I think this time he was really scared and he will understand next time if i have to sit down.
