so as some of u may remember i had some problems with regular formula and after alot of upset we finally settled onto SMA LF, Annabelle was so content on the milk, we went for our review at the doctors and he told us to start weaning her back onto regular SMA.
We did this by introducing 1 bottle a day for a week then uped it to 2 bottles then 3, my HV then said now she is on 3 just give her all bottles regular SMA.

so as of last saturday (7th) Annabelle had all SMA formula and seemed ok but on sunday she had 1 case of diarrhoea, then monday she had loads and a temp, i gave her calpol and rang HV as i was worried it was the milk, she said oh its a bug she will be fine after 3-4 days.
so by saturday she was still having very bad nappies and i phoned NHS direct because i was a worried wreck. they said see HV on monday.

sunday she came out on a rash all over er face, i phoned back cos to me this was a new symptom so again paranoid mother calls back they said see your GP in morning.
so monday the loose nappies have died down, but still having them. OH and she has stopped sleeping through the night which she has done from 8 weeks old 8pm till 6am
i phoned HV monday and she made me feel awful, she told me i needed to bring my baby down to be weighed tomorrow because its not natural for a baby to sleep that long so she is prob underweight!!!! she was 14lb 1oz when i had her weighed at 13 weeks hardly underweight.

so tonight camt the final straw after more screaming and another loose nappy, i called to have an emergency call back from the doctor. she called back and said she sounds lactose intolerant and wants her immediately back on SMA LF and that the rash is prob her body having an allergic reaction to the milk
i feel like such a bad mother for not trusting my own instinct and listening to the HV.

so sorry for the rant girls but i havent anyone else to talk to about it that understands

your not a bad mum hun half of these hv don,t know what they are talking about jack started sleeping through at 6 weeks from 11-pm - 7 & wouldn,t have bottle till 8 am , now he goes down at 9pm -7am & bottle at 8am . xx

Awww bless her. It's not your fault hun you was taking the advise of professionals. I hope she settles back on her lactose free milk xXx

aww hun, the docs can be a bloody pain when it comes to the sma lf... I was at the end of my tether before my hv had to suggest it on the sly... she said she would get in to trouble for suggesting it... but it worked... but in courtneys case it was more of an immaturity than a tolerance!!
Bloody rude saying that its not normal for a baby to sleep that long... my niece was 7pm - 7am since 16 weeks old!! And as for underweight... courtney was 16 lb 3oz at 6 months and shes not underweight! I followed my own insticts when weaning her back onto normal milk, they told me to use cow and gate comfort but she had reallllllly bad diarohea with that but I found that sma gold was fine..!! At least its sorted now and the bloody docs can stop trying to get you to wean back on to normal before your LO is ready :hugs:

This is what they said to me about it being an immaturity to the milk, thats why they wanted her weaned back on because apparently by 3 months it should be mature enough to take it.
obviously not in Annabelles case
its just made me feel bad, i feel awkward going to clinc and feel if she is underweight they are going to report me to social services or something

I weaned courtney back on it at about 4 months and like I said originally I tried the comfort but I figured it must have just been to soft on her tummy!! You do what you think is right hunni!!

Bloody useless - took them FAR too long to advise me Caitlin had reflux I was a bit pissed at the whole 'its normal some are just sicky babies' when Ithought back.

your not a bad Mum ...you trusted the people you SHOULD be able to trust and are there to help supposingly! grrr

:hugs: to you x

Your not a bad mum, your trusted them because they are supposedly the professionals, sometimes when your worried you question yourself and it's hard to follow your instincts. At least you got it all sorted out now :hugs:

omg stupid HV, your not a bad mum u were listening to what u thought was best, hv think they are helping but sometimes make things worse

:hugs: your not a bad mum hun dont be silly, you were only doing what you were advised to do by so called professionals
