Exactly what Bek says hun. We had to pay about 8000 dollars up front (different clinic) after our medicare rebates we were likely out of pocket about $3000 including medications. I have full hospital and extra covers with private health insurance so that covered all my hospital treatments.

i knew the cost would be impossible for us right now as i'm sure many of us are. Thank you for the info. My bf and I will see a FS to find out all the details, cost, etc for IVF. I just may have to go with the lap 1st and see what happens since however my insurance will cover it.

If your insurance covers your operation then I would go that way first and see what happens.

hi ladies heres my story.....i have an 8 year old son and always knew i wanted to have more kids but just not then. well as time progress my 7 year relation ship ended with his father so i wasnt trying to get pregnant anymore...2 years later i got into a serious relationship and we both decided we wanted kids and begin trying soon after...its been 4 years now. well in 2008 i had an hsg done and found out both my tubes were blocked and my gynecologist wasnt offering any alternatives oe suggestions he was just like you will never be able to have kids. i was furious because i wanted answers why was this happening..how was this happening i had never had any std's no eptopics NOTHING!!!!!...but a healthy baby 8 years ago!!!!.....so i didnt give up there i neede a second opinion so went to a new gynecoligist and he was willing to look at the x-rays and do a laparoscopy just to look and see how thigs really are..so i had my lap in 02 of 2009 and he found both tubes blocked, hydros in one and a little scar tissue stuck to my bowels and my tubes..he removed most of it but then told me my only options were to have ivf or laparoscopic surgery to re open the tubes and he would happily refer me to a good one..so he did an i went to the center for reproductive medicine. made my appointment and talked about my options and which procedure we were going to proceed with ..i decided to go with the laparoscopy first b/c my insurance would pay for it and i really wanted to try and conceive naturally without all the medicine intervention. so i was scheduled for my laparoscopy on 11/24/09 i went to have my blood work done on 11/20/2009 so the day of my surgery i go to the outpatient hospital and wait to be sent off to the back for my anestesia...so my doctor comes into the room and say how you feeling im like fine just anxious and ready to get these tubes open. she said how was your period this month i said it was fine i had it on friday when i had my bloodwork done at the hospital and it went off on saturday. she said well we cant do the surgery today i say WHY she said your pregnant i hit the roof.she told me not to get to excited becuse my beta was a low 64 and she wanted me to get dressed and go to her office to do another beta test since those resluts were from friday and it was tuesday. so the numbers should have tripled if not then its eptopic or miscarriage....well the resluts came back at my beta being a 1 i was devastated. i then asked her was it an eptopic or miscarriage?..the conclusion was misacrriage which meant i can get pregnant naturally and my tubes must not be as blocked as they say. so i of course had to reschedule the lap and now im suppose to have it done 02/23/2010...wish me luck and baby dust to all...xoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxo

Wow!!! what a wonderful story!! Goes to show miracles can happen. I am wishing you lots of baby dust this time around. I will be scheduling my lap for the second week of Feb. I am like you and wanna try to conceive naturally so I'm gonna go for it. Keep me up to date on how things go for you!!
